1. Sensor-Based Garments that Enable the Use of Bioimpedance Technology : Towards PersonalizedHealthcare Monitoring
Abstract : Functional garments for physiological sensing purposes have been utilized in several disciplinesi.e. sports, firefighting, military and medical. In most of the cases textile electrodes (Textrodes)embedded in the garment are employed to monitor vital signs and other physiologicalmeasurements. READ MORE

3. Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Optimization : Comparison and Evaluation of Non-invasive Methods
Abstract : The general purpose of this thesis was to investigate new cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) optimization techniques and to assess their reliability when compared to invasive measurements of left ventricular contractility (LV dP/dtmax).We first assessed whether cardiac output (CO) measured by trans-thoracic impedance cardiography could correctly identify the optimal interventricular (VV) pacing interval while using invasive measurements of LV dP/dtmax as reference. 4. Sympathetic neural blockade during regional analgesia : Clinical investigations in man
Abstract : Different opinions exist concerning the extent and intensi-ty of the concomitant sympathetic block during regional blockade, and how to test the completeness of the sympathetic blockade. Studies were performed on 21 volunteers and 162 patients scheduled for surgery of the urogenital area or surgery for varicose v-eins, and chronic pain patients. READ MORE

5. Cardiovascular response to hyperoxemia, hemodilution and burns : a clinical and experimental study
Abstract : The last decades less invasive monitoring and analytical tools have been developed for the evaluation of myocardial mechanics in clinical praxis. In critical care, these are longed-for complements to pulmonary artery catheter monitoring, additionally offering previously inaccessible information. READ MORE
