  1. 1. Techniques and Application of Electron Spectroscopy Based on Novel X-ray Sources

    Author : Stefan Plogmaker; Hans Siegbahn; Håkan Rensmo; Emma Springate; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; High Harmonic Generation HHG; HELIOS; X-ray Beam Chopper; Dye-sensitized Solar Cell; Ultra High Vacuum UHV; Photoelectron Spectroscopy; Pump-Probe; XUV; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : The curiosity of researchers to find novel characteristics and properties of matter constantly pushes for the development of instrumentation based on X-radiation. I present in this thesis techniques for electron spectroscopy based on developments of X-ray sources both in time structure and energy. READ MORE

  2. 2. Operando X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy Studies of Methane Oxidation Catalysts

    Author : Johan Nilsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; operando spectroscopy; XAS; palladium; heterogeneous catalysis; methane oxidation; XAFS;

    Abstract : Operando spectroscopy is an experimental method in catalysis that combines measurements of catalytic activity and selectivity with simultaneous in situ spectroscopic characterization of the catalyst. Since the structure and composition of the catalyst are probed under reaction conditions, the method can provide valuable information to elucidate the mechanism of the studied reaction. READ MORE

  3. 3. Unveiling catalytic species in suspension/solution-based reactions by in situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy

    Author : Ning Yuan; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The palladium (Pd) and ruthenium (Ru) species in several attractive catalysts have been probed using X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS). The study of catalyst evolution in suspension- and solution-based reactions was the primary aim. It was achieved by performing in situ XAS experiments on Pd and Ru over the course of the reactions. 4. 4. In situ X-Ray Spectroscopy of Ethylene Epoxidation over Ag and studies of Li-ion batteries and Cu sulfidation

    Author : Paw Kristiansen; Laurent Duda; Thorsten Schmitt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; In situ; XAS; RIXS; heterogeneous catalysis; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on experiments applying synchrotron based X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy(XAS) and Resonant Inelastic X-ray Scattering (RIXS) in the soft X-ray region to energy related systems. The main work of this thesis has been to develop a reaction cell that allowed for in situ XAS and RIXS investigations of the partial epoxidation of ethylene over a Ag catalyst at 1 atm and up to 250C. 5. 5. X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy on Nano-Magnet Arrays and Thin Films : Magnetism and Structure

    Author : Andreas Persson; Dimitri Arvanitis; Cormac McGuinness; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; self organization; nano-magnet; xmcd; exafs; peem; magnetism; Surfaces and interfaces; Ytor och mellanytor; Magnetism; Magnetism; Materiefysik; Physics of Matter;

    Abstract : The magnetic and structural properties of nano magnet arrays and ferromagnetic thin films are investigated. Circular x-rays are used and extensive use is made in this Thesis of the X-ray Magnetic Circular Dichroism (XMCD) technique. By means of the XMCD magneto-optic sum rules the values of the orbital and spin moments are determined. READ MORE
