  1. 1. Fatigue Anisotropy in Forged Components

    Author : Cornelius Temmel; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Inclusion Cluster; Low Sulfur; Machinability; Inclusion; Manganese Sulfide; Quenching Crack; Forging; Isotropic Quality; Steel; Anisotropy;

    Abstract : Ever-growing requirements on combustion engine efficiency of motor vehicles demand increasing service loads in powertrain components. Optimization of component material is therefore inevitable. A major detriment with many forged transmission components is their anisotropic mechanical behavior, not least during cyclic loading. 2. 2. Influence of microstructure on fatigue and ductility properties of tool steels

    Author : Mats Randelius; Rolf Sandström; Jens Bergström; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Tool steels; fatigue; ductility; carbides; carbide cluster; inclusion; size distribution; modelling; FEM; Metallurgical process engineering; Metallurgisk processteknik;

    Abstract : Fatigue and ductility properties in various tool steels, produced by powder metallurgy, spray forming or conventionally ingot casting, have been analysed experimentally and successfully compared to developed models. The models are able to predict the fatigue limit and cause for fatigue fracture, and strain- and stress-development until fracture during the ductile fracture process respectively. READ MORE

  3. 3. Growth and removal of inclusions during ladle refining

    Author : Mats Söder; Pär Jönsson; Hae-Geon Lee; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Meteorology; inclusions; steel; ladle; cluster growth; modelling; Meteorologi; Meteorology; Meteorologi;

    Abstract : The overall purpose of this thesis work has been to further our understanding of the growth and removal of inclusions in gas- and induction-stirred ladles. The primary focus has been on alumina inclusions.Growth mechanisms were studied using data from fundamental mathematical models of gas- and induction-stirred ladles. READ MORE

  4. 4. Perceived Accessibility : Capturing the Traveller Perspective

    Author : Katrin Lättman; Margareta Friman; Lars E Olsson; Annika Nordlund; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; perceived accessibility; accessibility scale; transport planning; public transport; social inclusion; social exclusion; Psykologi; Psychology;

    Abstract : The main purpose of this thesis is introducing and proposing perceived accessibility as an important and so far overseen complement to conventional, objective accessibility in sustainable transport. Perceived accessibility is defined as the possibilities and ease of engaging in preferred activities using different transport modes. READ MORE

  5. 5. X-ray absorption spectroscopy through damped coupled cluster response theory

    Author : Thomas Fransson; Patrick Norman; Lars Pettersson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : For a fundamental understanding of the interaction of electromagnetic radiation and molecular materials, experimental measurements are to be combined with theoretical models. With this combination, materials can be characterized in terms of composition, structure, time-resolved chemical reactions, and other properties. READ MORE
