1. Index theory in geometry and physics
Abstract : This thesis contains three papers in the area of index theory and its applications in geometry and mathematical physics. These papers deal with the problems of calculating the charge deficiency on the Landau levels and that of finding explicit analytic formulas for mapping degrees of Hölder continuous mappings. 2. Price measurement and index construction : some contributions to theory and application
Abstract : Four different problems are treated, all concerned with problems arising when compiling price indexes in official statistics. One deals with the computation of so called elementary aggregates, low level indexes for single products, when proper weights for the observations are not available. READ MORE

3. Road Safety Development Index : Theory, Philosophy and Practice
Abstract : This dissertation develops, presents and tests a new international tool, the so-called Road Safety Development Index (RSDI), which indicates in a comprehensive and easy way the severity of the road safety situation in a specific country and/or in comparison with other countries. There are three pillars of outcomes involved in the framework of RSDI. READ MORE

4. Strings, Conformal Field Theory and Noncommutative Geometry
Abstract : This thesis describes some aspects of noncommutative geometry and conformal field theory. The motivation for the investigations made comes to a large extent from string theory. This theory is today considered to be the most promising way to find a solution to the problem of unifying the four fundamental interactions in one single theory. READ MORE

5. A Probabilistic Model for Positional Voting - Spectrum Games -
Abstract : This thesis considers a class of cooperative n-person games (voting games) in which the voters are spread across an ideological scale. The two most commonly used measures of individual voting power in voting games are the Shapley-Shubik index and the Banzhaf-Coleman index. In both indices, the actors are assumed anomymous and treatad symmetrically. READ MORE
