  1. 1. Regenerative Chatter Vibration in Indexable Drills : Modeling and Simulation

    Author : Amir Parsian; Tomas Beno; Mahdi Eynian; Martin Magnevall; Erhan Budak; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Sound; Vibrations; Drill; Indexable; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Abstract : An indexable insert drill is a drill which uses cutting inserts to make holes. Undesirable sound generated by this type of drill has always been considered as a problem in workshops. The focus of this thesis is to investigate the mechanism behind these vibrations, to model it and to provide guidelines for reducing the sound in future drill designs. READ MORE

  2. 2. Dynamics of Torsional and Axial Vibrations in Indexable Drills

    Author : Amir Parsian; Tomas Beno; Mahdi Eynian; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Drilling Dynamics; Chatter Vibrations; Indexable Drills; Simulation; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Abstract : Drilling is widely used in manufacturing of products which need holes, for example for fluid channels, screws or pins. Depending on application, workpiece material, cutting parameters and economic considerations, different types of drills are employed. Indexable insert drills are types of drills which facilitate inserts to make holes. READ MORE

  3. 3. Chemical vapor deposition of hard coatings : Development of W(C,N) coatings for cemented carbide and TiN deposition on a CoCrFeNi substrate

    Author : Katalin Böőr; Mats Boman; Markku Leskelä; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : There is a constant need for cutting tool material development to be able to machine new materials and improve the metal cutting efficiency. Inserts of indexable cutting tools usually consist of WC-Co cemented carbide (cc) with μm thick layers of ceramic coatings. READ MORE

  4. 4. Performance of advanced tool steels for cutting tool bodies

    Author : Anna Medvedeva; Jens Bergström; Pavel Krakhmalev; Staffan Gunnarsson; Volker Schulze; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tool steel; cutting tool body; fatigue strength; stress relaxation; machinability; high-temperature properties; microstructure; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materialteknik; Materials Engineering;

    Abstract : Performance of indexable insert cutting tools is not only about the performance of cutting inserts. It is also about the cutting tool body, which has to provide a secure and accurate insert positioning as well as its quick and easy handling under severe working conditions. READ MORE
