  1. 21. Single and Double Skin Glazed Office Buildings - Analyses of Energy Use and Indoor Climate

    Author : Harris Poirazis; Avdelningen för Energi och byggnadsdesign; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; thermal environment; indoor climate; energy use; building performance; building simulations; double skin façades; Glazed office buildings; single skin façades; thermal comfort;

    Abstract : The energy efficiency and thermal performance of highly glazed office buildings are often questioned. However, nowadays glazed buildings are increasingly being built around the world, mainly due to an architectural trend, followed by the preference of companies to a distinctive image that a glazed office building can provide. 2. 22. Indoor environment and recurrent wheezing in young children

    Author : Gunnel Emenius; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Child; asthma; allergy; wheezing; air pollution; NO2; indoor air quality; building construction; ventilation system; indoor humidity; house dust mites; damp buildings; moisture; moulds; prospective studies; child;

    Abstract : Recurrent wheezing is one of the most common causes of morbidity and hospitalisation among infants and young children in many westernised countries. Respiratory infections and exposure to tobacco smoke have been identified as important risk factors. The indoor environment is also clearly of importance since we spend most of our time indoors. 3. 23. Self-rated health and respiratory symptoms among civil aviation pilots : Occupational and non-occupational risk factors

    Author : Xi Fu; Dan Norbäck; Christer Janson; Berndt Stenberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Civil Aviation; Aircraft pilot; Indoor environment; Self-rated health SRH ; Respiratory health; Asthma; Rhinitis; Headache; Fatigue; Insom-nia; Body mass index BMI ; Sense of Coherence SOC ; Psychosocial work environment; Quantitative PCR; Fungal DNA; Volatile organic compounds of microbial origin MVOC ; Cat allergen; Dog allergen; Horse allergen;

    Abstract : There is concern about the indoor environment in aircraft but few stud-ies exist on self-rated health (SRH) and respiratory symptoms among pilots. Occupational and non-occupational risk factors for SRH, respira-tory symptoms and other symptoms among commercial pilots were investigated in this thesis. READ MORE

  4. 24. Oxidation of terpenes in indoor environments : A study of influencing factors

    Author : Linda Pommer; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; Monoterpene; Ozone O3 ; Nitrogen dioxide NO2 ; Nitrogen oxide NO ; Relative humidity RH ; Modelling; Scrubber; Experimental design; Interaction; Volatile organic compounds VOC ; Sick buildings syndrome SBS ; Principal component analysis PCA ; Indoor air; Ventilation; Tenax TA; Sodium sulphite; Miljökemi; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry;

    Abstract : In this thesis the oxidation of monoterpenes by O3 and NO2 and factors that influenced the oxidation were studied. In the environment both ozone (O3) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) are present as oxidising gases, which causes sampling artefacts when using Tenax TA as an adsorbent to sample organic compounds in the air. 5. 25. Indoor Thermal Environment in Supermarkets. A study of measured and perceived comfort parameters

    Author : Ulla Lindberg; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; refrigeration systems; supermarket; display cabinets; thermal comfort; thermal environment; interdisciplinary;

    Abstract : In the supermarket environment three different groups must be considered: food (food quality), personnel (working conditions) and customers. Customers are of particular interest since they make up the commercial basis for the supermarket. Currently, however, there are no recommendations on the indoor environment for this category.
