  1. 1. Policy induced technological change : Productivity and innovation effects in biomass-using industry and energy generation

    Author : Johan Brolund; Magnus Lindmark; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Economics; Nationalekonomi;

    Abstract : The main objective of this thesis is to investigate the impact of public environmental policy on technological change in the biomass-using industry and energy generation. The thesis contains an introductory part followed by the empirical investigation which is divided into two self-contained articles. READ MORE

  2. 2. Distal to Proximal—Functional Coupling in RNase P RNA-mediated Catalysis

    Author : Shiying Wu; Leif A. Kirsebom; Britt-Marie Sjöber; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ribozyme; RNase P; Induced fit model; tRNA progressing; Substrate interaction;

    Abstract : RNase P is a ubiquitous ribonuclease responsible for removing the 5’ leader of tRNA precursor. Bacterial RNase P contains one RNA (RPR) and one protein (RPP) subunit. However, the number of protein variants depends on the origin. The RNA subunit is the catalytic subunit that in vitro cleaves its substrate with and without the protein subunit. READ MORE

  3. 3. Investigation of RNase P active site residues and catalytic domain interaction

    Author : Guanzhong Mao; Leif Kirsebom; Roland Hartmann; Britt-marie Sjöberg; Anders Byström; Anthony Forster; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; RNase P; Ribozyme; PRORP; Induced fit model; RNase P-pre-tRNA interaction; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : RNase P is an essential endoribonuclease responsible for the maturation of the tRNA 5’end. The RNase P family encompasses the ribozyme based, RNase P RNP, and proteinaceous RNase P (PRORP). The ribozyme based RNase P is widely distributed in most species while PRORP has so far mainly been found in some eukaryotic cells. READ MORE

  4. 4. Quinine as a model for the study of cochlear hearing loss in humans

    Author : Erik Berninger; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : cochlear function; hearing loss; inner ear; otoacoustic emissions; quinine; pharmacokinetics; pharmacodynamics;

    Abstract : Quinine has been used for centuries and is still recommended for the treatment of severe falciparum malaria and non-severe chloroquine-resistant malaria. Among its side effects is the concentration-dependent and reversible cochlear hearing loss. READ MORE

  5. 5. Evaluation of image quality and diagnostic accuracy in breast tomosynthesis. Comparison with digital mammography and estimates of radiation risk

    Author : Tony Svahn; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; diagnostic accuracy; breast tomosynthesis BT ; digital mammography DM ; average glandular dose AGD ; receiver operating characteristics ROC ; risk assessment; search-model SM ; proper ROC PROPROC ;

    Abstract : Recent advances in the digital detector technology have paved the way for modalities such as two-dimensional digital mammography (DM) and three-dimensional breast tomosynthesis (BT). In this work, experimental studies were conducted to investigate the influence of reducing the average glandular dose (AGD) on detection of simulated lesions in DM and to compare the diagnostic accuracy of BT and DM.
