  1. 16. Sulphide mineral flotation : a new insight into oxidation mechanisms

    Author : Alireza Javadi; Jan D. Miller; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mineralteknik; Mineral Processing;

    Abstract : Formation of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), an oxidizing agent stronger than oxygen, by sulphide minerals during grinding was investigated. It was found that pyrite (FeS2), chalcopyrite (CuFeS2), sphalerite ((Zn,Fe)S), and galena (PbS), which are the most abundant sulphide minerals on Earth, generated H2O2 in pulp liquid during wet grinding in the presence or devoid of dissolved oxygen in water and also when the freshly ground solids are placed in water immediately after dry grinding. 2. 17. Atomistic simulation techniques for modelling inorganic/organic interface and flotation collector design

    Author : Tarun Kundu; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mineralteknik; Mineral Processing;

    Abstract : The choice of collector molecules in flotation process of mineral separation is invariably determined by tedious trial and error experimentation with inherent mounting expenditure. Here, we seek the help of computational solid chemistry techniques, namely the atomistic simulation techniques, to help and judge the suitable collector molecule for selective mineral separation in flotation process, before actually conducting the experiment. 3. 18. Development of a process model for a Peirce-Smith converter

    Author : Andreas Lennartsson; Eetu-Pekka Heikkinen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Process Metallurgy; Processmetallurgi;

    Abstract : Copper was one of the first metals ever extracted and used by mankind. It is used for its unique properties, like corrosion resistance, good workability, high thermal conductivity and attractive appearance. New mines are opened to maintain a supply of primary feedstock to copper smelters. READ MORE

  4. 19. Blast furnace coke properties and the influence on off-gas dust

    Author : Maria Lundgren; Bo Lindblom; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Process Metallurgy; Processmetallurgi;

    Abstract : In blast furnace ironmaking, efforts are made to decrease the coke consumption mainly by increasing the pulverized coal injection rate. This will cause changes in in-furnace reduction conditions, burden distribution and demands on raw material strength, etc. READ MORE

  5. 20. Development of coke properties during the descent in the blast furnace

    Author : Maria Lundgren; Seshadri Seetharaman; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Process Metallurgy; Processmetallurgi;

    Abstract : The efficiency in use of reducing agents in blast furnace (BF) ironmaking has been significantly improved over the years. At most blast furnaces, auxiliary fuels are injected to replace some of the coke. To further reduce carbon consumption, prevention of losses and modification of raw materials or process conditions are required. READ MORE
