  1. 1. Local infiltration analgesia in knee arthroplasty

    Author : Per Essving; Kjell Axelsson; Lars Weidenhielm; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Knee arthroplasty; minimally invasive surgery; ropivacaine; ketorolac; intrathecal morphine; local infiltration analgesia; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Abstract : Local infiltration analgesia (LIA) is a new technique for postoperative pain management following knee arthroplasty. LIA involves a long-acting local anesthetic (ropivacaine), a non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug (ketorolac) and epinephrine infiltrated into the knee joint during surgery and injected postoperatively via a catheter. 2. 2. Molecular and Biological Characteristics of Stroma and Tumor Cells in Colorectal Cancer

    Author : Jingfang Gao; Xiao-Feng Sun; Richard Palmqvist; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Carcinogenesis; genetic alterations; colorectal cancer CRC ; cysteine-histidine rich protein PINCH ; Inflammatory infiltration; Angiogenesis; lymphangiogenesis; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Abstract : Carcinogenesis is a progressive process involving multiple genetic alterations in tumor cells and complex interactions in the tumor-host microenvironment. To better understand the contribution of molecular alterations in tumor cells and stromal variables to the development of colorectal cancer (CRC) and identify prognostic factors, in this study we examined the clinicopathological and biological significance of stromal variables, including particularly interesting new cysteine-histidine rich protein (PINCH), inflammatory infiltration, angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis, as well as hRAD50/hMRE11/hNBS1 proteins and hRAD50 mutation in tumor cell in CRC. 3. 3. The inflammatory response to arterial injury

    Author : Paul Dimayuga; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cardiovascular system; neointima; arterial injury; inflammation; Kardiovaskulära systemet;

    Abstract : Atherosclerosis as a disease is postulated to stem from a response to injury of the arterial wall by various stimuli. The inflammatory response is proposed to mediate intimal formation after injury. One pathway of cellular response to injury is through transcription factor NF-kB. READ MORE

  4. 4. Immunological mechanisms underlying inflammatory bowel disease

    Author : Ludvig Linton; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn‘s disease (CD), collectively referred to as inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), are characterized by aberrant immune responses in the gut, resulting in chronic intestinal inflammation. There is no cure for IBD, and the disease is increasing world-wide. READ MORE

  5. 5. Immunopathological aspects of equine inflammatory bowel disease

    Author : Karin Olofsson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Intestinal inflammation is a major welfare issue for horses causing colic, diarrhoea and an inability to thrive. One of the diagnoses with poor prognosis is inflammatory bowel disease (eqIBD). READ MORE
