21. Fatigue strength of engineering materials : the influence of environment and porosity
Abstract : The objective of this work was to use LEFM in order to assess the detrimental influence of surrounding chloride-containing environments for stainless steels, hardened steel as well as for a cast aluminium alloy. An additional aim was also to use LEFM to assess the influence of porosity on the fatigue properties for different commercial cast aluminium alloys and manufacturing methods. READ MORE

22. Impact of adjacent dielectrics on the high-frequency performance of graphene field-effect transistors
Abstract : Transistors operating at high frequencies are the basic building blocks of millimeter wave communication and sensor systems. The high velocity and mobility of carriers in graphene can open ways for development of ultra-fast group IV transistors with similar or even better performance than that achieved with III-V based semiconductors. 24. Thermal cracking of young concrete : partial coefficients, restraint effects and influence of casting joints
Abstract : Cracks can occur due to temperature induced movements during the hardening phase of concrete. Thermal cracks are not decisive for the load-bearing capacity but cause costs for repair and may reduce the life of the structure. The risk of cracking can be judged through safety values, (partial coefficients) given in building codes. READ MORE

25. Role of soil organic matter for immobilisation of metals : treatment of leachate from MSWI bottom ashes
Abstract : In this thesis, the focus is laid on the ability of natural organic matter (OM) to serve as a metal stabilising agent. The metal contaminants investigated arise from the MSWI bottom ash leachate. Besides the high content of metals, elevated pH and salinity are characteristic for ash leachate that, in turn, can alter the functionality of OM. READ MORE
