  1. 16. Business Intelligence Utilisation through Bootstrapping and Adaptation

    Author : Wanda Presthus; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Business Intelligence; Utilisation; Bootstrapping; Adaptation; Installed Base; Information Infrastructure;

    Abstract : Business Intelligence (BI) has traditionally been viewed as a technology-driven, rational process, which would lead to better decision-making in organisations. Fact-based decisions are expected to reduce costs and increase income for a company, but also, for example, prevent crime and illness on a more global scale. READ MORE

  2. 17. Development of a new service-oriented modelling method for information systems analysis and design

    Author : Prima Gustiené; Anders G Nilsson; Sten Carlsson; William Wei Song; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Information systems analysis and design; conceptual modeling; service orientation; semantic integrity; static and dynamic aspects; goal modeling.; Informatics; Informatik; Information Systems; Informatik;

    Abstract : This thesis presents a new modelling method for information systems analysis and design, where the concept of service and the principles of service orientation are used for integrated modelling and reasoning about information systems architectures across organisational and technical systems boundaries. The concept of service enables cohesion of the intersubjective and objective modelling traditions by using a single type of diagram that facilitates detection of semantic inconsistency, incompleteness, ambiguity and discontinuity between the static and dynamic aspects of information systems specifications. 3. 18. Information-Theoretic Generalization Bounds: Tightness and Expressiveness

    Author : Fredrik Hellström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; information theory; neural networks; generalization; statistical learning; meta learning; PAC-Bayes; Machine learning;

    Abstract : Machine learning has achieved impressive feats in numerous domains, largely driven by the emergence of deep neural networks. Due to the high complexity of these models, classical bounds on the generalization error---that is, the difference between training and test performance---fail to explain this success. READ MORE

  4. 19. Designing Interactive Learning Environments to Support Learners’ Understanding in Complex Domains

    Author : Marcelo Milrad; Växjö universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; interactive learning environments; complex domains; social constructivism; collaborative learning; construction kits; system dynamics simulations; collaborative modelling tools.; Information technology; Informationsteknologi; Cognitive science; Kognitionsvetenskap; Media Technology; Media Technology;

    Abstract : This dissertation focuses on the design of interactive learning environments (ILEs) to support learning in complex domains. Previous research efforts in this field indicate that we lack a well-articulated design framework with sufficient detail to take us from a socially-situated, problem-based, collaborative learning perspective to the design of a particular learning environment for a particular subject domain. 5. 20. An approach to systems engineering tool data representation and exchange

    Author : Erik Herzog; Anders Törne; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; engineering processes; information systems; data exchange; data representation; COTS; Information technology; Informationsteknologi;

    Abstract : Over the last decades computer based tools have been introduced to facilitate systems engineering processes. There are computer based tools for assisting engineers in virtually every aspect of the systems engineering process from requirement elicitation and analysis, over functional analysis, synthesis, implementation and verification.
