16. Laser Spectroscopy in Scattering Media for Biological and Medical Applications
Abstract : Tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy can be utilised for gas detection in biological and medical applications. The common approach is to analyse transmitted light according to the Beer-Lambertian law. READ MORE

17. Cavity enhanced optical sensing
Abstract : An optical cavity comprises a set of mirrors between which light can be reflected a number of times. The selectivity and stability of optical cavities make them extremely useful as frequency references or discriminators. READ MORE

18. Light interactions in flexible conjugated dyes
Abstract : In this thesis methodological developments have been made for the description of flexible conjugated dyes in room temperature spectrum calculations. The methods in question target increased accuracy and efficiency by combining classical molecular dynamics (MD) simulations with time-dependent response theory spectrum calculations. 19. Precision molecular spectroscopy in the near- and mid-infrared using frequency comb-based Fourier transform spectrometers
Abstract : Absorption spectroscopy is a powerful scientific tool for non-invasive and remote sensing applications ranging from atmospheric monitoring to astrophysics. In spectroscopic detection schemes it is necessary to have spectral models for any molecular species to be detected or quantified. READ MORE

20. Vibrational Spectroscopy of Surface Adsorbates on Metal Surfaces. Experiments and Calculations
Abstract : This work deals with a detailed analysis of the vibrational spectra of methoxy (CH3O-) and ethoxy (CH3CH2O-) on W(110) and Cu(100) single crystal surfaces. By using theoretical ab initio quantum mechanical modeling, it is demonstrated that an unprecedented quantitative understanding of the vibrational frequencies of a surface adsorbate can be obtained.
