    Author : Ingemar Thiblin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Forensic sciences; anabolic androgenic steroids; aggression; violence; homicide; suicide; accidental death; acetylcholin; dopamine; serotonin;

    Abstract : Non-medical use of anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) has been linked to various psychological and behavioural complications in case and survey reports. 2. 2. Aetiologies and Epidemiology of Subdural Haematoma in Infancy

    Author : Jacob Andersson; Ingemar Thiblin; Håkan Sandler; Andreas Buettner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Abusive Head Trauma; Shaken Baby Syndrome; Subdural Haematoma; External hydrocephalus; Rättsmedicin; Forensic Medicine;

    Abstract : According to scientific studies, subdural haematoma (SDH) in combination with retinal haemorrhage and encephalopathy (usually denoted as the triad) during infancy is highly specific for abusive head trauma/shaken baby syndrome, if a fall from over one meter, a traffic accident and certain medical conditions have been excluded. Other studies have challenged this notion since there are witnessed falls from less than one meter which has caused acute SDH, birth-related SDH which have been confirmed to develop into chronic SDH, and external hydrocephalus that can be complicated by a spontaneous SDH or an SDH from minor trauma. 3. 3. Forensic taphonomy in an indoor setting : Implications for estimation of the post-mortem interval

    Author : Ann-Sofie Ceciliason; Ingemar Thiblin; Håkan Sandler; M. Gunnar Andersson; Anders Lindström; Niels Lynnerup; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Forensic taphonomy; Indoor setting; Post-mortem interval estimation; Hepatic decomposition score; Total body score; microbial neoformation; Rättsmedicin; Forensic Medicine;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to determine if and how taphonomic data can be used to expand our knowledge concerning the decompositional process in an indoor setting, as well as adapting scoring-based methods for quantification of human decomposition, to increase the precision of post-mortem interval (PMI) estimates.In the first paper, the established methods of Total Body Score (TBS) and Accumulated Degree-Days (ADD) were investigated in an indoor setting, with results indicating a fairly low precision.     Keywords : Psychiatry; Anabolic steroids; Violence; Crime; Substance abuse; Psykiatri;

    Abstract : Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS) have been associated with adverse psychiatric effects, aggression and violent behaviour. The use of them has spread to a larger subpopulation, and the use has been connected to different risk behaviours, such as use of other illicit substances and carrying a gun. READ MORE

  5. 5. Testosterone Use and Abuse : Methodological Aspects in Forensic Toxicology and Clinical Diagnostics

    Abstract : Abuse of anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) is widespread in society and is today a major public health problem, associated with mental and somatic adverse effects and risk behavior, such as use of other illicit drugs and criminality.
