  1. 1. Electronic Healthcare Ontologies : Philosophy, the real world and IT structures

    Author : Martin Berzell; Ingemar Nordin; Urban Forsum; Daniel Karlsson; Ingvar Johansson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Philosophy; medical informatics; ontology; terminology; critical realism; immanent realism; Filosofi; medicinsk informatik; ontologi; terminologi; kritisk realism; immanent realism; Theory of science; Vetenskapsteori; Theoretical philosophy; Teoretisk filosofi;

    Abstract : The thesis investigates how the notion of ‘ontology’ has been used in the field of medical informatics and knowledge representation. Partly to investigate what an ‘ontology’ can be said to represent and what requirements we can have on a good ‘ontology’. READ MORE

  2. 2. The structure of knowing : Existential trust as an epistemological category

    Author : Hildur Kalman; Martin Edman; Ulla M. Holm; Ingvar Johansson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; lived body; knowing; existential trust; tacit knowing; Pkolanyi; subsidiary awareness; experience; gender; epistemology; from-to structure; agency;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the structure of knowing, and it argues that existential trust is an epistemological category.The aim of the dissertation is to develop a view according to which all human activity is seen as an activity of a lived body, and in which the understanding of the structure of such activity is regarded as central for the solution even of epistemological problems. 3. 3. On the Residual Stresses and Microstructure Formation of Aluminum-Silicon Cast Alloys

    Author : Mohsen Sadrossadat; Sten Johansson; Ru Lin Peng; Ingvar L Svensson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Al-Si alloys; residual stresses; microstructure; microsegregation; nucleation behavior; modeling; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Cast aluminum-silicon alloys are being increasingly used in automotive and aerospace industries for critical structure applications because of their excellent castability, low density, acceptable mechanical properties and low cost. Different casting and heat treatment parameters largely affect the microstructure and residual stress of the components, which in turn, has a great impact on their mechanical properties. READ MORE

  4. 4. Measuring occupational dust exposure with a passive sampler

    Author : Mariam Shirdel; Ingvar Bergdahl; Britt Andersson; Håkan Wingfors; Christer Johansson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; dust particles; mineral; PM10; PM2.5; respirable fraction; UNC passive aerosol sampler; working environment;

    Abstract : Objectives: In a working environment it is important to measure dust exposure to evaluate possible health issues. Passive sampling could be an alternative to active sampling with pumps when measuring occupational dust exposure. One passive sampler is the University of North Carolina passive aerosol sampler (UNC sampler). READ MORE

  5. 5. Influences of the Graphite Phase on Elastic and Plastic Deformation Behaviour of Cast Irons

    Author : Torsten Sjögren; Ingvar L. Svensson; Sten Johansson; Jorge Sikora; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cast iron; Flake graphite; Compacted graphite; Spheroidal graphite; Elastic deformation; Plastic deformation; Modulus of elasticity; Graphite modulus of elasticity; Strength coefficient; Strain hardening exponent; Acoustic emission; Construction materials; Konstruktionsmaterial;

    Abstract : The amount and morphology of the graphite phase largely controls the resulting properties of cast iron. For instance, in flake graphite cast irons the mechanical properties are low while the thermal conductivity is high. READ MORE
