1. Signal transduction via ion fluxes : a cell imaging study with emphasis on calcium oscillations
Abstract : Signal transduction via ion fluxes is of vital importance for all mammalian cells. Cells can exploit ion regulatory mechanisms to generate and transmit intracellular signals. Improvements in digital microscopic imaging technology have made it possible to explore micro-environments and complex intracellular machineries. READ MORE

2. Factors Influencing Phytate Degradation in Piglets. Feed phytate behaviour and degradation by microbial phytases
Abstract : Phytate, the main storage form of phosphorus (P) in plant feedstuffs, is indigestible for monogastric animals, and phytases are therefore used as feed additives to increase the digestibility of phytate-P and limit the inclusion of inorganic P. However, new and improved phytases are needed to obtain better phytate digestibility and allow for lower inclusions of inorganic P. READ MORE

3. Plant Phosphoinositide Kinases. A Study of PtdIns 4-kinases and a PtdIns 4-phosphate 5-kinase
Abstract : Phosphoinositides are of particular interest in signal transduction processes as they can be sequentially phosphorylated and used as precursors for the intracellular messengers inositol trisphosphate (InsP3) and diacylglycerol (DAG) that in turn affects calcium levels and protein kinase cascades, eventually leading to a physiological response. The activity and regulation of PtdIns 4-kinases and PtdInsP kinase was studied. READ MORE
