1. Palladium(II)-Catalyzed Addition Reactions : Synthesis of Aryl Amidines and Aryl Ketones
Abstract : Palladium-catalyzed reactions have become one of the most important tools in modern organic chemistry due to its ability to catalyze the formation of new carbon-carbon bonds. The aim of the work presented in this thesis was to develop new palladium(II)-catalyzed addition reactions. 2. Tissue reactions to biomaterials
Abstract : The biological response to different implanted biomaterials vary. The relative importance of factors in the material and host for this variation are at present incompletely known. READ MORE

4. Activation of CO2 by Palladium Complexes Bearing Tridentate PCP Ligands
Abstract : The present thesis deals with the activation of CO2 by insertion reactions into palladium-carbon bonds. This has been realised for the complexes {2,6-bis[(di-t-butylphosphino)methyl]benzene}palladium(II)methyl [(PCP)PdMe] and (PCP)PdCH2CHCH2. These complexes have also been used in the catalytic carboxylation of ZnMe2 and Bu3SnCH2CHCH2. READ MORE

5. Heck Reactions with Aryl Chlorides : Studies of Regio- and Stereoselectivity
Abstract : Homogeneous palladium-catalyzed Heck vinylation of aryl chlorides was investigated under air using Herrmann’s palladacycle and the P(t-Bu)3-liberating salt [(t-Bu)3PH]BF4. Based on the results, controlled microwave heating was utilized to accelerate model Heck reactions with aryl chlorides down to 30 min employing an electron-poor olefin and a mixture of an ionic liquid and 1,4-dioxane as solvent.
