11. Determination of Fat-Soluble Vitamins in Foods Based on Supercritical Fluid Extraction
Abstract : Sample clean-up methodologies based on supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) have been developed for determination of fat-soluble vitamins in foods. This thesis focuses on method development, stressing important issues concerning sample pre-treatment, extraction conditions and collection parameters. READ MORE

12. Study of Ξ-Hadron Correlations in pp Collisions at √s = 13 TeV Using the ALICE Detector
Abstract : By colliding heavy nuclei at high energies, which is done at RHIC and the LHC, a strongly interacting Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP) is created. This manifests itself through several different signatures, which until recently was thought to uniquely probe the QGP. READ MORE

13. A Study of Biomass Combustion Problems and the Selective Catalytic Oxidation of Ammonia
Abstract : Increasing awareness of the need of reducing CO2, NOx and SOx emissions from combustion systems has led to a strong interest in biomass as a fuel source. Using it in combination with fluidised bed combustion technology can lead to a lowering of NOx emissions to the atmosphere. READ MORE

14. Modelling of molybdopterin-dependent enzymes
Abstract : The thesis deals with models for molybdopterin-dependent enzymes. Several model systems containing molybdenum or tungsten have been prepared and characterised, and their reactivity with oxygen atom acceptors and donors have been investigated. READ MORE

15. Health Effects of Foods Enriched with Cereal beta-Glucans from Cereals
Abstract : Since soluble fibre in the form of the cereal beta-glucans found in oats and barley has been shown to have a positive effect on lipid and glucose metabolism, people at risk of developing cardiovascular diseases or diabetes might benefit from that a variety of palatable food products containing beta-glucans being available to them. The aim of the papers presented in the thesis was to evaluate the metabolic effects on persons with hypercholesterolemia or type 2 diabetes of various new food prototypes supplemented by beta-glucans.
