6. Inverse Problems in Tomography and Fast Methods for Singular Convolutions
Abstract : There are two, partially interlaced, themes treated in this thesis; inverse problems of tomographic type and fast and accurate methods for the application of convolution operators. Regarding the first theme, the inverse problem of Doppler tomography is considered and the Doppler moment transform is introduced for that purpose. READ MORE

7. Solution to boundary-contact problems of elasticity in mathematical models of the printing-plate contact system for flexographic printing
Abstract : Boundary-contact problems (BCPs) are studied within the frames ofclassical mathematical theory of elasticity and plasticityelaborated by Landau, Kupradze, Timoshenko, Goodier, Fichera andmany others on the basis of analysis of two- and three-dimensionalboundary value problems for linear partial differential equations.A great attention is traditionally paid both to theoreticalinvestigations using variational methods and boundary singularintegral equations (Muskhelishvili) and construction of solutionsin the form that admit efficient numerical evaluation (Kupradze). 8. Theoretical Investigations of the Role of Ion-Ion Correlations and Ion-Specific Interactions in Electric Double Layers
Abstract : Electric double layers are ubiquitous, arising in some form in almost every situation involving an interface with an aqueous electrolyte solution. In order to gain insight into the behavior of electrolytes and electric double layers, simple models of bulk and inhomogeneous electrolyte solutions are considered in this thesis. READ MORE

9. Application of fast backprojection techniques for some inverse problems of integral geometry
Abstract : In this thesis we study some mathematical inverse problems concerning the determination of a function from circular averages, which appear in certain radar applications, and the determination of a function from its line integrals, which appear in the well known problem of computerized tomographic imaging (CT). The thesis is divided into three parts. READ MORE

10. The Half-Vanished Structure : Hawthorne's Allegorical Dialectics
Abstract : Invoking Coleridge’s distinction between allegory and symbol, this dissertation makes the case for allegory and symbolism as two divergent perceptual modes. Allegory, it argues, stresses the necessity of perceiving the ideal through the mediation of negation (death), while symbolism flaunts the notion that the ideal can be immediately perceived in the inef-fable realm of the emotions.
