  1. 1. Development of a Novel Method for Evaluation of Interfacial Tension between Polymer Melts

    Author : Thomas Rundqvist; LU Innovation; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Polymer technology; Polymer Blends; Imbedded Fiber; Imbedded Disk; High viscosity; Interfacial tension; Polymer melts; biopolymers; Polymerteknik;

    Abstract : A novel method for the evaluation of interfacial tension of high viscosity polymer melts is described. The method involves the tracking of the shape evolution of a highly deformed droplet of one material imbedded in a second one. This makes it possible to determine the interfacial tension over a relatively short time period. READ MORE

  2. 2. Investigations of thermophysical properties of slags with focus on slag-metal interface

    Author : Luckman Muhmood; Seshadri Seetharaman; Nurni Neelakandan Viswanathan; Allan Cramb; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; slags; density; diffusivity; sessile drop; interfacial velocity; interfacial viscosity; interfacial dilatational modulus; interfacial shear viscosity; Metallurgical process engineering; Metallurgisk processteknik;

    Abstract : The objective of this research work was to develop a methodology for experimentally estimating the interfacial properties at slag-metal interfaces. From previous experiments carried out in the division, it was decided to use surface active elements like sulfur or oxygen to trace any motion at the interface. READ MORE

  3. 3. Diluent and Solvent Effects in Liquid-Liquid Extraction Systems based on bis-triazine-bipyrididine (BTBP)-class Ligands

    Author : Elin Löfström Engdahl; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Used nuclear fuel; Density; Solvent; Extraction vs. time; BTBP; GANEX; Liquid-Liquid Extraction; Interfacial tension; Diluent;

    Abstract : Used nuclear fuel taken directly from a reactor is radiotoxic for mankind and its environment for a long time. One of the major contributions to the long time radiotoxicity is the presence of a group of elements called the actinides. READ MORE

  4. 4. On the Diluent and Solvent Effects in Liquid-Liquid Extraction Systems based on Bis-triazine-bipyridine (BTBP) ligands

    Author : Elin Löfström Engdahl; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Solvent effects; Diluent effects; GANEX; Interfacial tension; Density;

    Abstract : Used nuclear fuel is dangerous for mankind and her environment for a long time. If however, the minor actinides together with uranium and plutonium could be transmuted, i.e. transformed, into more shortlived or stable isotopes the volume of the waste could be significantly reduced together with a reduction in the radiotoxicity. 5. 5. Salting-out of Colloidal Latex Particles Grafted with Poly(ethylene glycol)

    Author : Kristin Jonsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PEG; fluorinated colloids; monodisperse spheres; steric stability; emulsion polymerization; SAXS; crosslinking; salting-out; interfacial tension; SANS;

    Abstract : Colloidal particles dispersed in a medium are important both in nature and in industry. The stability of colloidal particles is determined by the interactions between them and can be improved by steric stabilization. There is no conclusive understanding of how these sterically stabilized particles become unstable. READ MORE
