  1. 16. Electron Wave Packet Dynamics on the Attosecond Time Scale

    Author : Kathrin Klünder; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Photoionization; Single attosecond pulses; Attosecond pulse trains; Electron wave packet; Electron dynamics; Interferometry; Photoemission time delay; Fysicumarkivet A:2012:Klünder; Stark spectroscopy;

    Abstract : One objective of attosecond science is to study electron dynamics in atoms and molecular systems on their natural time scale. This can be done using attosecond light pulses. READ MORE

  3. 18. Spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar for Sea Ice Observations, Concentration and Dynamics

    Author : Anders Berg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; synthetic aperture radar; interferometry; satellite; sea ice dynamics; sea ice monitoring; sea ice concentration;

    Abstract : Spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is the primary choice for sea ice monitoring due to its all-weather, day-and-night capability and regular delivery of high resolution images. This thesis presents methods for estimation of sea ice concentration and drift, a multi-sensor study of Baltic Sea ice radar signatures and an interferometric study of landfast sea ice. READ MORE

  4. 19. Laser-Driven Particle Acceleration - Improving Performance Through Smart Target Design

    Author : Matthias Burza; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; wakefield; ultra-relativistic; ultra-intense; TNSA; Terawatt; sheath; proton; polarimetry; plasma mirror; plasma; Petawatt; particle; oscillation; Normarski; micromachining; LWFA; laser; interferometry; electron; contrast; acceleration; bubble; Fysicumarkivet A:2012:Burza;

    Abstract : Laser-driven particle acceleration makes use of sub-picosecond, pulsed, high-power laser systems, capable of producing intensities ~10^{19} W/cm^2 at the laser focus to form plasmas, and use ultra-relativistic and nonlinear dynamics to produce quasistatic acceleration fields. This allows electrons to be accelerated to ~100 MeV over sub-centimetre distances, while protons may be accelerated to the ~10 MeV regime. READ MORE

  5. 20. Quantum interference effects in attosecond photoionization dynamics

    Author : David Busto; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Attosecond; Photoionization; Interferometry;

    Abstract : The interaction of extreme ultraviolet light with matter can lead to the emission of an electron in a process known as photoionization. The electron wavepacket (EWP) created in the continuum propagates on the ionic potential, resulting in a delay compared to an EWP propagating freely. READ MORE
