  1. 21. Situating interruptions in manufacturing assembly

    Author : Ari Kolbeinsson; Jessica Lindblom; Peter Thorvald; Dan Högberg; Tobias Grundgeiger; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; User Centred Product Design; Användarcentrerad produktdesign;

    Abstract : Interruptions have been studied extensively, with interruptions experiments where tasks performed on computers are interrupted by another task received on the same computer having receiving much of the focus. Additionally, many of the tasks used in existing research have been designed specifically to test the effect of interruptions on humans by making both the interrupting task and the task being interrupted quite difficult. Abstract : The overall aim of the four experimental studies included in this dissertation was to investigate the influence of background speech on writing performance. In Paper I, a manipulation of speech intelligibility of background speech, by using the Speech Transmission Index (STI), revealed disruptive effects at lower STI values (i.e. READ MORE

  3. 23. Optimization of TB/HIV co-treatment in Ethiopian patients

    Author : Wondwossen Amogne Degu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Tuberculosis (TB) and HIV infection act with deadly synergy. TB is the most frequent cause of morbidity and mortality in HIV infection. READ MORE

  4. 24. Managing Interruptions in Manufacturing : Towards a Theoretical Framework for Interruptions in Manufacturing Assembly

    Author : Ari Kolbeinsson; Dan Högberg; Peter Thorvald; Jessica Lindblom; Steve Summerskill; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Interruptions; Manufacturing; Mobile Devices; Cognition; Technology; Teknik; User Centred Product Design; Användarcentrerad produktdesign;

    Abstract : The effect of interruptions from ICT systems on assembly workers in manufacturing is examined in this thesis, as is how the risks of errors, increases in assembly time, increased cognitive load and resultant stress can be mitigated, as well as ensuring that important new information is acted upon. To these ends, a literature study was conducted, followed by two studies using an experimental approach in an environment that simulated a manufacturing assembly situation, and used tasks designed to be representative of manufacturing assembly tasks. 5. 25. Coaching partial plans : an approach to knowledge-based tutoring

    Author : Tomas Sokolnicki; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The thesis describes a design for how a tutoring system can enhance the educational capabilities of a conventional knowledge-based system. Our approach to intelligent tutoring has been conceived within the framework of the KNOWLEDGE-LINKER project, which aims to develop tools and methods to support knowledge management and expert advice-giving for generic applications.
