1. Dietary Fatty Acids and Inflammation : Observational and Interventional Studies
Abstract : Dietary fat quality influences the risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. A low-grade inflammation is suggested to contribute to the disease development, often accompanied by obesity. Whereas n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) have been considered anti-inflammatory, n-6 PUFA have been proposed to act pro-inflammatory. READ MORE

2. The life situation of patients with heart failure in primary health care. An explorative and interventional study
Abstract : The general aim of this thesis was to obtain a deeper understanding of the life situation of patients with mild to severe heart failure and their spouses, and to determine the effects of a nurse-led intervention on patients with heart failure in primary health care. A phe-nomenographic approach was used to describe how male (N=12) and female (N=12) patients with heart failure conceive their life situa-tion (I, II), and the critical incident technique was used to describe spousal (N=23) experience of factors that influence their support of the patient with heart failure. 3. Radiation dose and related risk in interventional cardiology
Abstract : Cardiac catheterization procedures are classified as high radiation dose procedures, European Directive 2013/59/Euratom, and may result in skin injuries (deterministic effects) and/or increased cancer risk (stochastic effects). The radiation-induced effects can be expressed differently depending on whether the patient is a child or an adult. READ MORE

4. Insights into the effect of myocardial revascularisation on electrical and mechanical cardiac function
Abstract : Background: Acute coronary syndrome is known for its effect on cardiac function and can lead to impaired segmental and even global myocardial function. Evidence exists that myocardial revascularisation whether pharmacological, interventional or surgical results in improvement of systolic and diastolic left ventricular (LV) function, particularly that of the long axis which represents the sub-endocardial function, known as the most sensitive layer to ischaemia. 5. Quality Improvement in Acute Coronary Care : Combining the Use of an Interactive Quality Registry with a Quality Improvement Collaborative to Improve Clinical Outcome in Patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction
Abstract : The quality of care for Swedish patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is continuously increasing. Nevertheless, a great potential for improvement still exists. READ MORE
