  1. 1. Intestinal preservation for transplantation: translational approaches

    Author : John M. Söfteland; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; intestinal transplantation; intestinal preservation; apoptosis; tight junction; luminal preservation;

    Abstract : Background: Intestinal preservation injury (IPI) may result in various degrees of mucosal damage, which may later favor bacterial translocation, post-reperfusion syndrome, and upregulation of alloreactivity. Experimental evidence suggests that combining vascular perfusion and cold storage with luminal interventions using polyethylene glycol (PEG) solutions may mitigate the mucosal damage and extend the safe storage time. 2. 2. Renal function after transplantation of the liver and intestine

    Author : Gustaf Herlenius; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : adult liver transplantation; pediatric liver transplantation; intestinal transplantation; multivisceral transplantation; immunosuppression; calcineurin inhibitors; glomerular filtration rate; renal function; nephrotoxicity; chronic kidney disease; renal replacement therapy; mortality;

    Abstract : Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) after liver (LT) or intestinal (IT) transplantation may decrease patient survival. Calcineurin inhibitors (CNI) play a major role in its development. Aims: Describe long term renal function and risk factors for developing CKD in adults and children after LT and IT. READ MORE

  3. 3. Intestinal transplantation: Outcome, complications and diagnostic approach

    Author : Jonas Varkey; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Intestinal transplantation; rejection; endoscopy;

    Abstract : Background: Intestinal transplantation is a potentially lifesaving procedure conducted in candidates with e.g. intestinal failure. However, a limiting factor has been the complications, which are inherent to the procedure, along with the inadequacies of current modalities to establish a prompt diagnosis of acute cellular rejection. 4. 4. Intestinal transplantation. Experimental and clinical studies

    Author : Mihai Oltean; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Intestinal preservation; Ischemia-reperfusion injury; Tight junction; FK506; Resistin;

    Abstract : Intestinal preservation-reperfusion injury may result in various degrees of mucosal injury. Interestingly, the preservation injury is similar when using the current preservation solutions, which are given as a intravascular flush. An extensive mucosal injury may ultimately preclude the use of organs that require longer preservation time. READ MORE

  5. 5. Graft-versus-Host Disease: Eosinophils, Chimerism and Clinical Features in Patients Undergoing Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell or Multivisceral Transplantation

    Author : Julia Cromvik; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; graft-versus-host disease; eosinophilic granulocyte; intestinal transplantation; multivisceral transplantation; chimerism analysis;

    Abstract : Abstract Graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) is a potentially severe complication that may develop after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). It can also occur after transplantation with isolated intestinal grafts or after multivisceral transplantation (MVTX). GVHD is difficult to diagnose. READ MORE
