1. Transvascular exchange and organ perfusion with reference to colloid and hypertonic solutions, and to endotoxaemia
Abstract : Changes in vascular permeability can immensely change plasma volume and affect the degree of oedema in the body. In diseases with an increased vascular permeability, adequate fluid therapy is of considerable importance to prevent hypovolaemia. READ MORE

2. Interplay between autophagy and amyloid beta metabolism in Alzheimer’s disease
Abstract : Alzheimer’s disease (AD), the most common neurodegenerative disease, is characterized by two pathological hallmarks: extracellular amyloid-beta peptide (Aβ) plaque depositions and neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs) composed of intracellular hyperphosphorylated tau aggregations. A cellular degradation system, autophagy is additionally dysfunctional in AD and plays a key role in Aβ and tau metabolisms. READ MORE

3. Alzheimer's Disease: The role of alpha1-antichymotrypsin-amyloid peptide (Abeta 1-42) interaction in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease
Abstract : Alzheimer?s disease (AD) is an age-related, irreversible brain disorder that occurs gradually and results in memory loss, behavioural and personality changes. The disease is characterized by an abnormal accumulation of amyloid-beta (Ab) peptide in the extracellular space and the protein Tau within nerve cells of certain regions of the brain. READ MORE

4. Migration of molecules in the brain : focus on the extracellular space and the cerebrospinal fluid
Abstract : Three different molecules and three different experimental models were used to study the migration of molecules in the rat brain: a neurotransmitter- dopamine, an extracellular market- mannitol, and a neuropeptide beta-endorphin. Two models in vivo were used to study the diffusion and migration of molecules: dual-probe rnicrodialysis in the striatum, and direct intrastriatal microinjections followed by cerebrospinal fluid sampling from the cisterna magna. 5. Volume kinetics of glucose solutions given by intravenous infusion
Abstract : Fluid therapy is often cumbersome to plan since the distribution and the elimination of the administered solution are difficult to analyze in the clinical setting. The knowledge of the adequate rate and dose for each individual patient and under various physiological conditions would be very attractive to obtain in order to avoid fluid overload and hyperglycemia.
