2. Rectal prolapse, internal rectal intussusception and the ripstein rectopexy : a clinical, physiological and radiological study
Abstract : The aim of these studies was to increase the knowledge about rectal prolapse and internal rectal intussusception, with special reference to bowel function and treatment with the Ripstein rectopexy. Results after the Ripstein rectopexy in 69 patients with rectal prolapse and in 43 patients with internal metal intussusception were evaluated. READ MORE

3. Peritoneocele : a radiological study with defaeco-peritoneography
Abstract : Report study: Defaecography reports from 2816 patients were evaluated. Twenty-three per cent of the investigations were considered normal, 31% showed rectal intussusception, 13% rectal prolapse, 27% rectocele, and 19% enterocele. A standardised protocol is suggested to ensure a complete evaluation of defaecography. READ MORE

4. Mechanisms of Tissue Vascularization
Abstract : Tissue neovascularization in postnatal life occurs during post-traumatic tissue healing, neoplastic growth and in the endometrium during the reproductive cycle of females. Although embryonic angiogenesis has been intensively studied, far less is known about tissue revascularization and vessel remodeling in adults due to methodological difficulties. READ MORE

5. Investigating mechanisms of angiogenesis in health and disease using zebrafish models
Abstract : Angiogenesis, the growth of blood vessels from an existing vasculature, can occur by sprouting from preexisting vessels or by vessel splitting (intussusception). Pathological angiogenesis drives choroidal neovascularization (CNV) in age related macular degeneration (AMD) which is commonly restricted under the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE), called occult CNV, but may also involve vessels penetrating through the RPE into the sub-retinal space.
