1. Numerical ice sheet modeling : Forward and inverse problems
Abstract : Ice sheets have strong influence on the climate system. Numerical simulation provides a mathematical tool to study the ice dynamics in the past and to predict their contribution to climate change in the future. Large scale ice sheets behave as incompressible non-Newtonian fluid. READ MORE

2. Inverse problems in signal processing : Functional optimization, parameter estimation and machine learning
Abstract : Inverse problems arise in any scientific endeavor. Indeed, it is seldom the case that our senses or basic instruments, i.e., the data, provide the answer we seek. READ MORE

3. Data-driven Methods in Inverse Problems
Abstract : In this thesis on data-driven methods in inverse problems we introduce several new methods to solve inverse problems using recent advancements in machine learning and specifically deep learning. The main goal has been to develop practically applicable methods, scalable to medical applications and with the ability to handle all the complexities associated with them. READ MORE

4. Wave Splitting in Direct and Inverse Scattering Problems
Abstract : The focus of this thesis is on the use of wave splitting in electromagnetic direct and inverse scattering problems. Wave splitting offers a decomposition of wave fields into appropriate input and output wave constituents. READ MORE

5. Direct and inverse resonance problems for seismic surface waves
Abstract : This thesis concerns the investigation of direct and inverse resonance results for the Love and the Rayleigh operators, which arise from decoupling the three-dimensional elastic wave equation in the semiclassical limit in the half-space. Direct resonance results in terms of the asymptotic distribution of resonances in the complex plane are obtained for the Love and the Rayleigh operators. READ MORE
