  1. 1. Inversion and Joint Inversion of Electromagnetic and Potential Field Data

    Author : Jochen Kamm; Ari Tryggvason; Laust B Pedersen; Mehrdad Bastani; Douglas Oldenburg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Inversion; Electromagnetic methods; Joint inversion; Potential Field methods; Inversion; Elektromagnetische Verfahren; Joint-Inversion; Potentialverfahren; Geofysik med inriktning mot fasta jordens fysik; Geophysics with specialization in Solid Earth Physics;

    Abstract : In this thesis, four inversion problems of different scale and difficulty are solved. Two of them are electromagnetic inverse problems. Two more are joint inversion problems of potential field data and other types of data. READ MORE

  2. 2. Quantifying the Seismic Response of Underground Structures via Seismic Full Waveform Inversion : Experiences from Case Studies and Synthetic Benchmarks

    Author : Fengjiao Zhang; Christopher Juhlin; Ari Tryggvason; Yanghua Wang; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; full waveform inversion; waveform tomography; CO2 monitoring; CO2 sequestration; time lapse seismic; Inversion; Geofysik med inriktning mot fasta jordens fysik; Geophysics with specialization in Solid Earth Physics;

    Abstract : Seismic full waveform inversion (waveform tomography) is a method to reconstruct the underground velocity field in high resolution using seismic data. The method was first introduced during the 1980’s and became computationally feasible during the late 1990’s when the method was implemented in the frequency domain. READ MORE

  3. 3. Efficient carbohydrate synthesis by controlled inversion strategies

    Author : Hai Dong; Olof Ramström; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbohydrate Chemistry; Carbohydrate Protection; Epimerization; Inversion; Dynamic; Regioselective Control; Neighboring Group Participation; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : The Lattrell-Dax method of nitrite-mediated substitution of carbohydrate triflates is an efficient method to generate structures of inverse configuration. In this study it has been demonstrated that a neighboring equatorial ester group plays a highly important role in this carbohydrate epimerization reaction, inducing the formation of inversion compounds in good yields. 4. 4. Seismics, 2D and 3D Inversion of Magnetotellurics : Jigsaw pieces in understanding the Skellefte Ore District

    Author : María de los Ángeles García Juanatey; Ari Tryggavson; Ute Weckmann; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Magnetotellurics; 2D inversion; 3D inversion; hard rock seismics; mineral exploration; integrated geophysics; 4D modeling; Geofysik med inriktning mot fasta jordens fysik; Geophysics with specialization in Solid Earth Physics;

    Abstract : The Skellefte District (SD) is one of the richest metallogenic mining areas in Sweden. The main deposits consist of volcanic-hosted massive sulphides (VHMS) rich in zinc, copper, lead, gold and silver, that have been explored and mined for more than a century. READ MORE

  5. 5. Airborne Gravity Gradient, Magnetic and VLF datasets : Case studies of modelling, inversion and interpretation

    Author : Sayyed Mohammad Abtahi; Thomas Kalscheuer; Laust Pedersen; Jochen Kamm; Thorkild Rasmussen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; VLF; gravity gradient; magnetic; airborne; inversion; non-uniqueness;

    Abstract : Northern Sweden is one of the largest hosts for mineral resources in Europe and always has been an interesting area for researchers from various disciplines of Earth sciences. This dissertation is a comprehensive summary of three case study papers on airborne VLF, gravity gradient and magnetic data in the area. READ MORE
