  1. 1. Nanostructures Studied by Atomic Force Microscopy : Ion Tracks and Nanotextured Films

    Author : Judit Kopniczky; Claes-Göran Granqvist; Lars Montelius; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; ion impact; surface tracks; electronic sputtering; WO3; nanoparticle; scanning probe microscopy; tapping mode; Fysik; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis concernes two sorts of nanostructures: energetic-ion-impact-induced surface tracks and gas-deposited WO3 nanoparticles. Our aims to characterise these nanostuctures and understand the physical principles behind their formation are of general interests for basic science as well as of the field of nanotechnology. 2. 2. Luminescence of Silicon Nanoparticles Synthesized by Ion Implantation

    Author : Thawatchart Chulapakorn; Anders Hallén; Daniel Primetzhofer; Yanwen Zhang; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Silicon nanoparticle; Photoluminescence; Ion beam synthesis; Ion beam analysis; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Silicon nanoparticles (SiNPs) have been shown to display luminescence in the visible range with a peak wavelength depending on the nanoparticle size. This finding is of potential interest for integration of optoelectronic devices in semiconductor technology. READ MORE

  3. 3. Towards Single-Ion Detection and Single-Photon Storage in Rare-Earth-Ion-Doped Crystals

    Author : Mohammed Alqedra; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Single-ion detection; microcavities; quantum memory; rare-earth-ion-doped crystals; Fysicumarkivet A:2022:Alqedra;

    Abstract : Solid materials doped with rare-earth ions are considered an attractive platform for quantum information applications. One of the main reasons for this is the exceptionally long optical and hyperfine coherence times of the 4fn states, due to the shielding provided by the outer lying 5s and 5p electrons. READ MORE

  4. 4. Magnetotransport Studies of Mn Ion-Implanted Nanowires

    Author : Waldomiro Paschoal; Linnaeus University; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hopping conduction; ferromagnetism; ion-implantation; Nanowire; GaMnAs; magnetoresistance; Fysicumarkivet A:2014:Paschoal;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the magnetotransport properties of highly Mn-doped crystalline GaAs nanowires. The GaAs nanowires were first grown by metal-organic vapor phase epitaxy from gold seed particles, and subsequently implanted with Mn ions under varying conditions, e.g., ion fluence and acceleration voltage. Abstract : The subject of this thesis is the evolution and dynamics of the plasma environment of a moderately active comet before, during and after its closest approach to the Sun. For over 2 years in 2014-2016, the European Space Agency’s Rosetta spacecraft followed the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko at distances typically between a few tens and a few hundred kilometers from the nucleus, the longest and closest inspection of a comet ever made.
