  1. 1. Precision measurements on negative ions

    Author : Moa Kristiansson; Henning T. Schmidt; Dag Hanstorp; Henning Zettergren; Christophe Blondel; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Negative ions; Atomic physics; Precision measurement; Electron affinity; Photodetachment; Physics; fysik;

    Abstract : In this thesis, experiments with negative ions performed at the DESIREE facility are presented. DESIREE consists of two electrostatic storage rings operated at 13 K. The low temperature in combination with a low pressure allows for storage times of the negative ion beams to be up to several hours. READ MORE

  2. 2. Carbonate Ions and Gastric Cancer

    Author : Roy Ehrnström; Malmö Patologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine human and vertebrates ; ODC; COX-2; inflammation; Wistar rats; duodenogastric reflux; Medicin människa och djur ; proliferation; gastrojejunostomy; carbonate ions; Experimental gastric cancer;

    Abstract : Nearly one million new cases of gastric cancer are diagnosed annually throughout the world. Even though the incidence has fallen dramatically in recent decades, this disease is still the second leading cause of cancer death in a global perspective. READ MORE

  3. 3. Excited States in Negative Ions

    Author : Johan Rohlén; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Negative Ions; Photodetachment; Atomic Physics; Experimental Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis covers experimental studies of atomic negative ions with the main goal of increasing our fundamental understanding of these fragile quantum systems. Comparisons of measurements and calculations have been used to increase our understanding of these highly correlated, yet simple, systems. READ MORE

  4. 4. Experimental studies of cluster ions containing water, ammonia, pyridine and bisulphate

    Author : Mauritz Johan Ryding; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; clusters; ions; water; ammonia; pyridine; bisulphate; cross sections; collision induced dissociation CID ; kinetic modelling; electrospray ionization ESI ; time-of-flight TOF ; mass spectrometry;

    Abstract : Molecular cluster ions are fascinating subjects of study. Bridging the size gap between molecules and bulk, they often display non-trivial size dependent behaviour and properties. READ MORE

  5. 5. Filtration of Microcrystalline and Microfibrillated Cellulose: The impact of ions and electric field

    Author : Anna Hjorth; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; microfibrillated cellulose; microcrystalline cellulose; ions; filtration; electro-assisted;

    Abstract : Dewatering plays an essential role in the processing of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) and microfibrillated cellulose (MFC), as their commercial attractiveness in many applications is limited by the high water content of the products. Filtration is the most common mechanical dewatering technique, but the filtration of these materials results in filter cakes with high filtration resistance. READ MORE
