  1. 1. Screening of oxygen-carrier particles based on iron-, manganese-, copper- and nickel oxides for use in chemical-looping technologies

    Author : Marcus Johansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Oxygen Carrier; Carbon Dioxide Capture; Chemical-Looping Combustion; Chemical-Looping Reforming; Nickel Oxide; Iron Oxide; Copper Oxide; Manganese Oxide;

    Abstract : Capture and storage of carbon dioxide from combustion will likely be used in the future as a method of reducing emissions of greenhouse gases and thus be part of the overall strategy to stabilize the atmospheric levels of CO2. Chemical-looping combustion is a method of combustion where CO2 is inherently separated from the non-condensable components in the flue gas without the need for an energy intensive air separation unit. 2. 2. Memory Effects on Iron Oxide Filled Carbon Nanotubes

    Author : Carlos Cava; Clas Persson; Lucimara Roman; Krister Svensson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Memory devices; Carbon Nanotubes; energy; nanotechnology; Iron Oxide;

    Abstract : In this Licentiate Thesis, the properties and effects of iron and iron oxide filled carbon nanotube (Fe-CNT) memories are investigated using experimental characterization and quantum physical theoretical models. Memory devices based on the simple assembly of Fe-CNTs between two metallic contacts are presented as a possible application involving the resistive switching phenomena of this material. READ MORE

  3. 3. CVD on Iron Powder - Using Fluidising Bed Techniques

    Author : Lars Nilsson; Industriell Produktion; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aluminium oxide; alumina; chemical vapour deposition; eddy current losses; FBR; iron; fluidising bed reactor; powder; SiO2; SMC; TiO2; Al2O3; soft ma etic com sites; CVD;

    Abstract : Today's electrical energy conversion devices, such as motors, transformers, inductors and generators, are based on laminated magnetic cores for reduction of eddy current losses, imposing a two-dimensional magnetic flux distribution. Using a three-dimensional magnetic flux distribution while maintaining low magnetic losses requires new approaches to magnetic core materials. READ MORE

  4. 4. Selection of oxygen carriers for chemical-looping combustion using methane as a fuel

    Author : Marcus Johansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Carbon Dioxide Capture; Nickel oxide; CO2 Separation; Oxygen Carrier; Iron oxide; Manganese oxide.; Chemical-Looping Combustion;

    Abstract : In order to meet new demands on clean energy producing technologies, chemical-looping combustion could play an important role. With this technique, CO2 from the flue gases can be separated and collected without excessive energy and efficiency penalty. This is because nitrogen from the combustion air is never mixed with the fuel. READ MORE

  5. 5. Crystallization on the Mesoscale : Self-Assembly of Iron Oxide Nanocubes into Mesocrystals

    Author : Michael Agthe; Lennart Bergström; German Salazar-Alvarez; Tommy Nylander; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Self-assembly; iron oxide nanocubes; mesocrystal; small angle X-ray scattering; video microscopy; QCM-D; Materials Chemistry; materialkemi;

    Abstract : Self-assembly of nanoparticles is a promising route to form complex, nanostructured materials with functional properties. Nanoparticle assemblies characterized by a crystallographic alignment of the nanoparticles on the atomic scale, i.e. mesocrystals, are commonly found in nature with outstanding functional and mechanical properties.
