  2. 2. Cellulose hydrolysis by Trichoderma reesei cellulases: Studies on adsorption, sugar production and synergism of cellobiohydrolase I, II and endoglucanase II

    University dissertation from Department of Biochemistry, Lund University

    Author : Jozsef Medve; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [1997]

    Abstract : Three major cellulases, cellobiohydrolase I and II (CBH I and II) and endoglucanase II (EG II) of Trichoderma reesei have been purified by ion-exchange chromatography in an FPLC system. Microcrystalline cellulose (Avicel) was hydrolysed by the single enzymes and by equimolar mixtures of CBH I-CBH II and CBH I-EG II. READ MORE

  4. 4. Studies of leukotriene C4 synthase isoenzymes and the cysteinyl leukotrine receptors in human endothelial- and mast cells

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics

    Author : Mattias Sjöström; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2003]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Leukotriene (LT) C4, the parent compound of LTD4 and LTE4, is generated when LTA4 is conjugated with GSH by either leukotriene C4 synthase (LTC4S) or microsomal GSH S-transferase (MGST) type 2 or 3. Together these lipid mediators cause contractions particularly in airway smooth muscle and the microcirculation, leading to bronchconstriction, plasma extravasation and edema formation as well as increased mucus secretion from epithelial cells and recruitment of inflammatory cells. 5. 5. Phosphatidylinositol 4-kinases in plasma membranes and Affinity partitioning of liposomes: a model system for membrane purification

    University dissertation from Biochemistry, Center for Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Lund University

    Author : Lars Ekblad; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2000]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; metabolism; Biokemi;

    Abstract : Polyphosphoinositides, the different phosphorylated variants of the phospholipid phosphatidylinositol (PtdIns), are used in a wide array of intracellular mechanisms in eukaryotic cells. The phosphorylation of PtdIns at carbon D4, catalyzed by phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase, is an important step in the synthesis of several of these molecules. READ MORE
