  1. 1. Isomers of ions in space and planetary atmospheres

    Author : David Sundelin; Wolf D. Geppert; Olle Björneholm; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : Ion physics; ionosphere; interstellar medium; isomers; Titan.; Physics; fysik;

    Abstract : Ion chemistry has become increasingly important in the evolution of the chemical inventory of extraterrestrial environments. Isomers of ions have also come to play an important role as, in many instances, the cold environments in the interstellar medium and high layers of planet and satellite atmospheres do not supply enough energy to overcome isomerization barriers and the isomers effectively act as separate molecules. 2. 2. Mass Spectrometric Applications for Diagnosing Metabolic and Endocrine Diseases

    Author : Mark M. Kushnir; Jonas Bergquist; Alan L Rockwood; David Herold; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Analytical chemistry; biomarker; liquid chromatography; tandem mass spectrometry; LC-MS MS; sample preparation; isomers; steroid hormones; congenital adrenal hyperplasia; polycystic ovary syndrome; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Disease-specific compounds (biomarkers) are analyzed in clinical laboratories to assist with diagnosing diseases. This thesis describes development and validation of liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) based tests for diagnosing a diverse group of endocrine and metabolic diseases. 3. 3. Sources, transport and fate of perfluoroalkyl acids in the atmosphere

    Author : Jana Johansson; Ian Cousins; Tom Harner; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Perfluorinated alkyl acids; PFOS; PFOA; Isomers; Sources; Atmospheric transport; Sea spray; Gas-particle partitioning; Volatilisation; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : Perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs) are man-made chemicals which have been observed in the global environment, even in locations far away from where they are emitted. These persistent substances are taken up in humans and biota and may have toxic effects. READ MORE

  4. 4. Contact Allergy to Epoxy Resins of the Bisphenol F-type

    Author : Ann Pontén; Yrkes- och miljödermatologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; thin-layer chromatography; occupational dermatitis; isomers; bisphenol F; bisphenol A; DGEBF; DGEBA; epoxy resin of the bisphenol F-type; Epoxy resin; contact allergy; Dermatology; venereology; Dermatologi; venereologi; Occupational health; industrial medicine; Yrkesmedicin; arbetsmiljömedicin;

    Abstract : Epoxy resins based on bisphenol A are well-known contact allergens and often cause occupational contact allergy. The most important allergen is the monomer diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA). READ MORE

  5. 5. Mass Spectrometry of Non-protein Amino Acids : BMAA and Neurodegenerative Diseases

    Author : Liying Jiang; Leopold Ilag; Jonas Bergquist; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Neurodegenerative diseases; BMAA; Isomers; LC-MS MS; Cyanobacteria; Diatoms; Seafood contamination; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Neurodegenerative diseases have been shown to correlate positively with an ageing population. The most common neurodegenerative diseases are amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease. READ MORE
