  1. 1. Development of Methods for Phase System Characterization in Liquid Chromatography

    Author : Jörgen Samuelsson; Torgny Fornstedt; Karin Caldwell; Attila Felinger; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Analytical chemistry; Liquid chromatography; Adsorption isotherms; Adsorption energy distribution; Tracer pulse method; Elution by characteristic points; Peak deformation; Validation; Hybrid column material; Alkaline separation; Injection-profiles; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis is first and foremost to improve the fundamental knowledge of nonlinear and preparative separation theory by focusing on some of the remaining “white spots” on the theoretical chromatographic map. Secondly, the acquired knowledge is used to develop, validate and execute new methods for phase characterization in liquid chromatography. READ MORE

  2. 2. Petroleum potential and thermal history of the Caledonian foreland basin, Sweden

  3. 3. Thermal Modelling of the Caledonian Basin, Scandinavia and a Northern North Sea Profile

    Author : Jörgen Samuelsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; petroleum; vitrinite reflectance; thermal maturation; flexural rigidity; heat flow; suppression; thermal conductivity; North West Shelf; Alum Shale;

    Abstract : The reason for the registered high paleotemperatures of the Scandinavian Alum Shale was investigated by heat flow modelling constrained by vitrinite-like reflectance. The behaviour of the lithosphere under a load was modelled and the paleotemperatures were explained by burial of the Alum Shale in a foreland basin, developing during the Caledonian orogeny. 4. 4. Fundamental Investigations of Adsorption in SFC

    Author : Emelie Glenne; Torgny Fornstedt; Jörgen Samuelsson; Caroline West; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Supercritical fluid chromatography; SFC; Adsorption isotherm; Excess adsorption isotherm; Solvent adsorption; Peak distortion; Solute retention; Overloaded peaks; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : In supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC), the eluent is composed by carbon dioxide, often with additional components, in a condition between gas and liquid. This thesis aims to reach a deeper understanding of SFC by revealing the function of the additional eluent components through systematic adsorption studies. READ MORE
