  1. 1. Atom Probe Tomography of Hard Nitride and Boride Thin Films

    Author : David L. J. Engberg; Lars Hultman; Magnus Odén; Guido Schmitz; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; Atom probe tomography APT ; Ceramics; Nitrides; Borides;

    Abstract : Hard ceramic thin films, including TiSiN, ZrAlN, ZrB2, and ZrTaB2, with applications for wear-resistant coatings, have been studied using atom probe tomography and correlated with several other analytical techniques, including X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy, and elastic recoil detection analysis. Outstanding obstacles for quantitative atom probe tomography of ceramic thin films have been surmounted. READ MORE

  2. 2. Gas Exchange in the Normal Lung : Experimental studies on the effects of positive end-expiratory pressure and body position

    Author : Mats J. Johansson; Sten Walther; Gunnar Nicolaysen; John-Peder Escobar Kvitting; Stefan Lundin; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : BACKGROUND: The principal function of the lung is gas exchange requiring adequate ventilation and perfusion at the level of the alveoli. The efficiency of gas exchange is depending on the distributions of regional ventilation (V) and pulmonary blood flow (Q) and their correlation. READ MORE

    Abstract : In many fields of science, engineering, and economics large amounts of data are stored and there is a need to analyze these data in order to extract information for various purposes. Data mining is a general concept involving different tools for performing this kind of analysis. READ MORE

  4. 4. Description of spatial and temporal distributions of epiphytic lichens

    Author : Håkan Lättman; Per Milberg; Bengt Gunnar Jonsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; centroid; continuity; lichen; movement; range shift; direction; dispersal; ecological continuity; establishment; global change; global warming; habitat availability; håkan lättman; Biology; Biologi;

    Abstract : Lichens are, in most cases, sensitive to anthropogenic factors such as air pollution, global warming, forestry and fragmentation. Two studies are included in this thesis. The first is an evaluation of the importance of old oak for the rare epiphytic lichen Cliostomum corrugatum (Ach.) Fr. READ MORE

  5. 5. Mistaken morality? : an essay on moral error theory

    Author : Emma Beckman; Gunnar Björnsson; Bart Streumer; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; moral error theory; Mackie; Joyce; Olson; normative institution; fictionalism; normative error theory; epistemic error theory; irreducible normativity; abolitionism; conservationism; propagandism;

    Abstract : This dissertation explores arguments and questions related to moral error theory – the idea that morality inevitably involves a fundamental and serious error such that moral judgments and statements never come out true. It is suggested that the truth of error theory remains a non-negligible possibility, and that we for this reason should take a version of moral fictionalism seriously. READ MORE
