  1. 1. Regenerable Organochalcogen Antioxidants : An Explorative Study

    Author : Jiajie Yan; Lars Engman; David J. Procter; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; autoxidation; antioxidant; selenium; tellurium; regenerable; multifunctional; radical-trapping; hydroperoxide-decomposing; co-antioxidant; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi;

    Abstract : Antioxidants are widely used to protect organic materials from damages caused by autoxidation, an oxidation process that occurs under normal aerobic conditions. In this thesis, novel multifunctional organoselenium and organotellurium antioxidants were designed, synthesized, and evaluated in search for compounds with better radical-trapping capacity, regenerability, and hydroperoxide-decomposing ability. 2. 2. Carbohydrate-Functionalized Nanomaterials : Synthesis, Characterization and Biorecognition Studies

    Author : Na Kong; Mingdi Yan; Joseph J. Barchi Jr; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; carbohydrate; glyconanomaterials; perfluorophenyl azide PFPA ; CuAAC; AAAC; coupling chemistry; 19 F q NMR; lectin; carbon nanomaterials; microwave irradiation; Kemi; Chemistry; Bioteknologi; Biotechnology;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the development of carbohydrate coupling chemistry on nanomaterials and their biological activity studies. It is divided into two parts:In part one, two carbohydrate immobilization approaches, based on perfluorophenyl azide (PFPA)-functionalized silica nanoparticles (SNPs), are presented, where the binding affinity of the glyconanoparticles was evaluated through carbohydrate-lectin interaction. 3. 3. Studies of Hyaluronan and Related Structures by NMR Spectroscopy

    Author : Yan Xue; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Hyaluronan (HA) is a natural polysaccharide in the glycosaminoglycan (GAG) family with repeating units of N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) and glucuronic acid (GlcA), which are linked by β(1→4) and β(1→3) glycosidic linkages. HA has many important regulatory functions in the human body, but comprehension of its structure-function relationship remains limited. READ MORE
