  1. 1. Design approaches for grouting of rock fractures; Theory and practice

    Author : Jalaleddin Yaghoobi Rafi; Stefan Larsson; Håkan Stille; Thomas Dalmalm; Lars Ericsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Grouting; Rock mechanics; Jacking; penetration length; Järnvägsgruppen - Infrastruktur; Järnvägsgruppen - Infrastruktur;

    Abstract : Currently, cement base grout is used widely for sealing of the rock fractures in order to decrease the permeability of rock mass. Grouting procedure is one of the main tasks in cycle of rock excavation. In addition, huge amount of grout should be used during dam construction in order to seal the bedding and embankment walls. 3. 3. Hydromechanical breakdown of crystalline rock : a study based on experiments on hot dry rock geothermal energy

    Author : Thomas Wallroth; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; failure mechanism; microseismicity; reservoir; fluid pressure; pore pressure; jacking shear failure; hot dry rock; seismic event; shut-in; hydraulic fracturing; stimulation; rock stress; joint;

  4. 4. Study of Pumping Pressure and Stop Criteria in Grouting of Rock Fractures

    Author : Jalaleddin Yaghoobi Rafi; Håkan Stille; Mikael Rinne; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rock Mechanics; Grouting; Solid Mechanics; Hållfasthetslära;

    Abstract : Today practice of grouting is based on empirical approaches in that, pumping pressure and stop criteria are determined by benchmarking similar projects. Considering a maximum limit for grouting pressure would allow applying a relatively high pressure that may lead to jacking of the fracture or even uplift of the rock mass. READ MORE

  5. 5. Hydro-Mechanical Behaviour of a Pressurised Single Fracture: An In-situ Experiment

    Author : Patrik Alm; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hydro-mechanical behaviour; hydraulic field test; transmissivity; effective stress; aperture; fracture stiffness; fracture; slug test;

    Abstract : Exploration of ground water resources, grouting, disposal of nuclear waste and extraction of geothermal energy are examples of activities which require consideration of the relationship between effective stress and transmissivity. However, this relationship is poorly understood and very few investigations have been conducted in field scale. READ MORE
