  1. 1. Studies on CMOS Digital-to-Analog Converters

    Author : Jacob Wikner; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : In this thesis we present an overview and study on digital-to-analog converters (DAC), mainly for communications applications. Especially, we look at some digital subscriber line (DSL) specifications and communication over twisted-pair channels. READ MORE

  2. 2. Complexity and Power Reduction in Digital Delta-Sigma Modulators

    Author : Nadeem Afzal; Jacob Wikner; Oscar Gustafsson; Mark Vesterbacka; Michael Peter Kennedy; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER;

    Abstract : A number of state-of-the-art low power consuming digital delta-sigma modulator (ΔΣ) architectures for digital-to-analog converters (DAC) are presented in this thesis. In an oversampling ΔΣ DAC, the primary job of the modulator is to reduce the word length of the digital control signal to the DAC and spectrally shape the resulting quantization noise. READ MORE

  3. 3. A study on emerging electronics for systems accepting soft errors

    Author : Joakim Alvbrant; J. Jacob Wikner; Emil Nilsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electronic clay; Redundant systems; Memristor; Wireless sensor networks;

    Abstract : Moore’s law has until today mostly relied on shrinkage of the size of the devices inintegrated circuits. However, soon the granularity of the atoms will set a limit together with increased error probability of the devices. How can Moore’s law continue in thefuture? To overcome the increased error rate, we need to introduce redundancy. READ MORE

  4. 4. Design of Integrated Building Blocks for the Digital/Analog Interface

    Author : Niklas Andersson; Mark Vesterbacka; Oscar Gustafsson; Jacob Wikner; Timo Rahkonen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER;

    Abstract : The integrated circuit has, since it was invented in the late 1950's, undergone a tremendous development and is today found in virtually all electric equipment. The small feature size and low production cost have made it possible to implement electronics in everyday objects ranging from computers and mobile phones to smart prize tags. READ MORE

  5. 5. ADC modeling for system simulation

    Author : Kalle Folkesson; Jacob Wikner; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Modem system design methods are based on early system simulation using behavioral models. Since the ADC often is the critical component it is especially important that it is mode led correctly. Most current design environments use very simple ADC models such as ideal sampling and quantization to give a certain effective number of bits (ENOB). READ MORE
