  1. 1. Parameter estimation in heterogeneous catalysis

    Author : Jonas Sjöblom; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; microkinetic modelling; Jacobian; Parameter estimation; Latent Variable models; Design of experiments; heterogeneous catalysis; sensitivity analysis; Experimental design;

    Abstract : The detailed modelling of heterogeneous catalytic systems is challenging due to the unknown nature of new catalytic materials as well as the often required transient nature of the resulting models. Thus, this thesis deals with the methodologies involved in the kinetic modelling of heterogeneous catalysis and in particular NOx reduction systems. READ MORE

  2. 2. On efficient and adaptive modelling of friction damping in bladed disks

    Author : Mohammad Afzal; Leif Kari; Ines Lopez Arteaga; Muzio M Gola; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High cycle fatigue; Friction contact; Jacobian matrix; Shroud contact; Strip damper; Multiharmonic balance method; Contact stiffness; Cyclic symmetry; Nodal diameter; Magnetostrictive actuator; Magnetic field; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : This work focuses on efficient modelling and adaptive control of friction damping in bladed disks. To efficiently simulate the friction contact, a full-3D time-discrete contact model is reformulated and an analytical expression for the Jacobian matrix is derived that reduces the computation time drastically with respect to the classical finite difference method. 3. 3. Fast Microwave Tomography Algorithm for Breast Cancer Imaging

    Author : Samar Hosseinzadegan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; breast cancer; computational cost; inverse problem; discrete dipole approximation; microwave tomography; forward solver; Jacobian matrix;

    Abstract : Microwave tomography has shown promise for breast cancer imaging. The microwaves are harmless to body tissues, which makes microwave tomography a safe adjuvant screening to mammography. READ MORE

  4. 4. Origin-destination matrix estimation from traffic counts

    Author : Anders Peterson; Henrik Edwards; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : For most kind of analyses in the field of traffic modeling, there is a need for origin-destination (OD) matrices, which specify the travel demands between the origin and destination nodes in the network. The process of obtaining OD-matrices is long, complicated and expensive. READ MORE

  5. 5. Development of an Automatic Reduction Tool for Chemical Mechanisms and an Optimized Sparse Matrix Solver for Systems of Differential and Algebraic Equations

    Author : Andreas Arvidsson; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Abstract An N-Heptane mechanism and a Methane/Propane mechanism have been reduced by an Automatic Reduction Tool (ART) and simulated with two different solver combinations, which solve the set of ordinary differential equations governing the time evolution of the species simultaneously with solving algebraic equations for species that can be considered to be in quasi steady state. The most successful of the two solver combinations is an optimized combination of Newton solvers. READ MORE
