  2. 2. Supersonic flow separation with application to rocket engine nozzles

    Author : Jan Östlund; KTH; []
    Keywords : turbulent; boundary layer; shock wave; interaction; overexpanded; rocket nozzle; flow separation; control; side-load; experiments; models; review;

    Abstract : The increasing demand for higher performance in rocketlaunchers promotes the development of nozzles with higherperformance, which basically is achieved by increasing theexpansion ratio. However, this may lead to flow separation andensuing instationary, asymmetric forces, so-called side-loads,which may present life-limiting constraints on both the nozzleitself and other engine components. 3. 3. Being well and doing good

    Author : Sebastian Östlund; Kalle Grill; Jan-Willem van der Rijt; Jonathan Wolff; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; well-being; ill-being; capability approach; monism; pluralism; etik; Ethics;

    Abstract : This dissertation contains an introductory chapter and four articles. In section 1 of the introductory chapter, I provide an overview of my argument. In section 2, I do five things. First, I show that well-being is subject-relative, meaning that well-being is always present in a life if it is present at all. READ MORE

  4. 4. "The gut matters" : an interdisciplinary approach to health and gut function in older adults

    Author : Lina Östlund-Lagerström; Robert Jan Brummer; Ida Schoultz; Wilhelm Tham; Tommy Cederholm; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; healthy ageing; gut health; old age; senior orienteering athletes; Geriatrik; Geriatrics;

    Abstract : Improved life expectancy is a triumph of modern medicine. However, today’s senior citizens are predicted to soon consume 75% of the available health-care resources. Identifying new strategies to promote a healthy ageing process has thus become a priority. READ MORE

  5. 5. Microstructure based modelling of ductile fracture in quench-hardenable boron steel

    Author : Rickard Östlund; Michael Worswick; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics; Centrumbildning - Centrum för högpresterande stål CHS ; Centre - Centre for High Performance Steel CHS ;

    Abstract : Reduction of fuel consumption and emissions by vehicle weight minimization constitute a major driving force for the development of new materials and manufacturing processes in the automotive industry. Simultaneously formed and quenched boron steel components have higher strength to weight ratio than conventional mild steel components. READ MORE
