  1. 11. Analysis and Monitoring of Laser Welding and Surface Texturing

    Author : Rickard Olsson; Alexander Kaplan; John Powell; Jan Frostevarg; Michael Zäh; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Laser welding; monitoring; Signal processing; laser texturing; texture analysis; Produktionsutveckling; Manufacturing Systems Engineering;

    Abstract : This thesis can be conveniently divided into three sections as follows;Part I. Monitoring of laser welding In laser materials processing there has always been a need for suitable methods to supervise and monitor the processes on-line, to ensure correct production quality or to trigger alarms when failures are detected. 2. 12. Strength grading of structural timber and EWP laminations of Norway spruce : Development potentials and industrial applications

    Author : Jan Oscarsson; Anders Olsson; Marie Johansson; Hans Joachim Blass; SE-351 96 Växjö Videum Science Park SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden SP Wood Technology; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fibre angle; grain angle; knots; laser scanning; machine strength grading; modulus of elasticity; side boards; strain; structural timber; wet gluing; wood; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Abstract : Machine strength grading of structural timber is a sawmill process by which considerable value is added to sawn products. The principle of such grading is that the strength of a timber member is predicted on the basis of a so called indicating property (IP) which, in general, represents an averaged value of the modulus of elasticity (MOE) measured over a board length of about one meter or more. 3. 13. Thoracic Aortic Surgery : Epidemiology, Outcomes, and Prevention of Cerebral Complications

    Author : Christian Olsson; Stefan Thelin; Jan van der Linden; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Surgery; Aorta; Thoracic; Aortic aneurysms; Aortic disease; Cardiovascular surgical procedures; Epidemiology; Registries; Treatment outcome; Survival analysis; Cerebral infarction; Near-infrared spectroscopy; Quality of life; Perfusion; Kirurgi;

    Abstract : The mortality of thoracic aortic diseases (mainly aneurysms and dissections) is high, even with surgical treatment. Epidemiology and long-term outcomes are incompletely investigated. Stroke is a major complication contributing to mortality, morbidity, and possibly to reduced quality of life. READ MORE

  4. 14. Student Sustainability Consciousness : Investigating Effects of Education for Sustainable Development in Sweden and Beyond

    Author : Daniel Olsson; Niklas Gericke; Jelle Boeve-de Pauw; John Piccolo; Jan Činčera; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Education for sustainable development; effects; environmental and sustainability education; holism and pluralism; students; sustainability consciousness; Biology; Biologi;

    Abstract : Environmental and sustainability education has been an important part of education worldwide for many years, aiming to foster pro-environmental behavior among young people. Education for sustainable development (ESD) and its teaching components holism (the approach to the content) and pluralism (the approach to teaching) has been launched as the educational approach to support this aim by empowering young people with action competence for a sustainable future. 5. 15. Designing Work Support Systems – For and With Skilled Users

    Author : Eva Olsson; Jan Gulliksen; Carl Åborg; Susan Harker; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; human-computer interaction; user involvement; work analysis; work design; user-centred design; Information technology; Informationsteknologi;

    Abstract : Computer users often suffer from poorly designed support systems that hinder them from performing their work efficiently and with satisfaction. The evidence is found in observations of users at work, interviews, evaluations of systems, and numerous reports of systems with poor usability that fail from start. READ MORE
