  1. 1. Ruthenium-catalyzed redox reactions and lipase-catalyzed asymmetric transformations of alcohols

    Author : Michaela Edin; Jan-E. Bäckvall; Manfred T. Reetz; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ruthenium; lipase; catalysis; alcohols; diols; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : The major part of this thesis describes the synthesis of enantiopure alcohols and diols by combining ruthenium-catalyzed redox reactions that lead to racemization or epimerization and lipase-catalyzed asymmetric trans-formations in one-pot.A mechanistic study of the unexpected facile formation of meso-diacetate products found in enzyme-catalyzed acetylations of alkanediols with Candida antarctica lipase B (CALB) was first performed. 2. 2. Enantioselective biotransformations using engineered lipases from Candida antarctica

    Author : Karin Engström; Jan-E. Bäckvall; Manfred T. Reetz; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; protein engineering; directed evolution; kinetic resolution; dynamic kinetic resolution; biotransformation; lipase; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : Enzymes are attractive catalysts in organic synthesis since they are efficient, selective and environmentally friendly. A large number of enzyme-catalyzed transformations have been described in the literature. READ MORE

  3. 3. Palladium-Catalyzed Carbocyclizations of Allenes with Unsaturated Hydrocarbons

    Author : Johan Franzén; Jan-E. Bäckvall; Ross A. Widenhoefer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Palladium-catalysis; Allenes; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : Palladium-catalyzed reactions of unsaturated hydrocarbons are important processes in organic chemistry especially for the generation of ring systems. This thesis describes the development and mechanistic studies of carbocyclization reactions of allenes with olefins, allyls or 1,3-dienes catalyzed by palladium(0)- and palladium(II)-complexes. 4. 4. Ruthenium-catalyzed hydrogen transfer involving amines and imines : Mechanistic studies and synthetic applications

    Author : Joseph S M Samec; Jan-E Bäckvall; Jack R. Norton; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with ruthenium-catalyzed hydrogen transfer involving amines and imines and is divided into two parts. In Part 1 a mechanistic study has been performed. READ MORE
