  1. 1. Modelling of temperature, moisture and stresses in young concrete

    Author : Jan-Erik Jonasson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Abstract : The present study consists of three areas, namely modelling of- (1) temperature, (2) moisture state, and (3) stresses in young concrete. The derivation of models, examination of material data, and development of computer programs have progressed differently in these areas. READ MORE

  2. 2. Thermal Crack Risk Estimation and Material Properties of Young Concrete

    Author : Anders Hösthagen; Jan-Erik Jonasson; Mårten Larson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Thermal cracking risk; young concrete; Equivalent Restraint Method; strength development; heat of hydration; creep; shrinkage; thermal dilation; modeling; field observations; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis presents how to establish a theoretical model to predict risk of thermal cracking in young concrete when cast on ground or an arbitrary construction. The crack risk in young concrete is determined in two steps: 1) calculation of temperature distribution within newly cast concrete and adjacent structure; 2) calculation of stresses caused by thermal and moisture (due to self-desiccation, if drying shrinkage not included) changes in the analyzed structure. 4. 4. Structural Identification of Civil Engineering Structures

    Author : Tarek Edrees; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Abstract : The assumptions encountered during the analysis and design of civil engineering structures lead to a difference in the structural behavior between calculations based models and real structures. Moreover, the recent approach in civil engineering nowadays is to rely on the performance-based design approaches, which give more importance for durability, serviceability limit states, and maintenance. 5. 5. Restraint in structures with young concrete : Tools and estimations for practical use

    Author : Majid Al-Gburi; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Abstract : One of the widespread issues in concrete structures is cracks occurring at early age. Cracks that appear in the young concrete may cause early start of corrosion of rebars or early penetration of harmful liquids or gases into the concrete body. READ MORE
