  1. 1. Insights on the sustainability of a Swedish seaweed industry

    Author : Jean-Baptiste Thomas; Fredrik Gröndahl; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Industriell ekologi; Industrial Ecology;

    Abstract : Cultivated seaweed biomass is increasingly perceived as having tremendous potential as a multi-value, environmentally friendly and renewable biomass. Momentum is gathering along the Atlantic coast of Europe and across the world to capitalize on the potential of a more global seaweed industry. READ MORE

  2. 2. Multi-Hop Real-Time Communication over Switched Ethernet Technology

    Author : Mohammad Ashjaei; Thomas Nolte; Moris Behnam; Jean-Luc Scharbarg; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Computer Science; datavetenskap;

    Abstract : Switched Ethernet technology has been introduced to be exploited in real-time communication systems due to its features such as its high throughput and wide availability, hence being a cost-effective solution. Many real-time switched Ethernet protocols have been developed, preserving the profits of traditional Ethernet technology, to overcome the limitations imposed by using commercially available (COTS) switches. 3. 3. Low-Cost Iron-Based Cathode Materials for Large-Scale Battery Applications

    Author : Anton Nytén; Josh Thomas; Jean-Marie Tarascon; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Inorganic chemistry; Li-ion battery; cathode material; lithium iron phosphate; lithium iron silicate; X-ray powder diffraction; Mössbauer spectroscopy; photoelectron spectroscopy; Oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : There are today clear indications that the Li-ion battery of the type currently used worldwide in mobile-phones and lap-tops is also destined to soon become the battery of choice in more energy-demanding concepts such as electric and electric hybrid vehicles (EVs and EHVs). Since the currently used cathode materials (typically of the Li(Ni,Co)O2-type) are too expensive in large-scale applications, these new batteries will have to exploit some much cheaper transition-metal. 4. 4. Internet Interventions for Hearing Loss : Examing rehabilitation, self-report measures and internet use for hearing-aid users

    Author : Elisabet Sundewall Thorén; Thomas Lunner; Gerhard Andersson; Marie Öberg; Jean-Pierre Gagné; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Counseling; hearing loss; hearing aids; rehabilitation of people with hearing loss; internet; outcome assessment; hearing aid satisfaction;

    Abstract : In the future, audiological rehabilitation of adults with hearing loss will be more available, personalized and thorough due to the possibilities offered by the internet. By using the internet as a platform it is also possible to perform the process of rehabilitation in a cost-effective way. READ MORE

  5. 5. Sound field separation with microphone arrays

    Author : Elias Zea; Ines Lopez Arteaga; Mats Åbom; Leif Kari; Jean-Hugh Thomas; KTH; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Sound field separation; Microphone arrays; Near-field acoustic holography; Reflecting surfaces; Railway rolling noise; Farkostteknik; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering;

    Abstract : Sound field analysis is a fundamental tool in the design, manufacturing, testing and diagnosis of machines and transportation means, as well as the legislations that regulate noise levels in order to minimize environmental pollution. Customary solutions to the problem of sound field analysis are microphone array technologies such as near-field acoustic holography (NAH) and beamforming. READ MORE
