  1. 1. Mild head injury : inhospital observation or computed tomography?

    Author : Jean-Luc af Geijerstam; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Decision analysis; inhospital observation; management strategy; metaanalysis; mild head injury; randomised controlled trial; systematic review; tomography; x-ray computed; triage.;

    Abstract : Background: Patients with mild head injuries are treated every day in emergency departments around the world. The rationale for any management strategy is to identify with a high degree of safety at reasonable costs, patients at risk of deterioration due to serious intracranial injuries. READ MORE

  2. 2. Genetic variation and inference of demographic histories in non-model species

    Author : Jean-Luc Tison; Dalén Love; Mats Grahn; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; molekylärgenetik; Molecular Genetics;

    Abstract : Both long-term environmental changes such as those driven by the glacial cycles and more recent anthropogenic impacts have had major effects on the past demography in wild organisms. Within species, these changes are reflected in the amount and distribution of neutral genetic variation. READ MORE

  3. 3. Degradation of acrylonitrile butadiene rubber and fluoroelastomers in rapeseed biodiesel and hydrogenated vegetable oil

    Author : Shahin Akhlaghi; Ulf W. Gedde; Jean-Luc Gardette; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Degradation; Acrylonitrile butadiene rubber; Fluoroelastomers; Biodiesel; Hydrotreated vegetable oil; Cavitation; Bound rubber; Dehydrofluorination.; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Abstract : Biodiesel and hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) are currently viewed by the transportation sector as the most viable alternative fuels to replace petroleum-based fuels. The use of biodiesel has, however, been limited by the deteriorative effect of biodiesel on rubber parts in automobile fuel systems. READ MORE

  4. 4. Multi-Hop Real-Time Communication over Switched Ethernet Technology

    Author : Mohammad Ashjaei; Thomas Nolte; Moris Behnam; Jean-Luc Scharbarg; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Computer Science; datavetenskap;

    Abstract : Switched Ethernet technology has been introduced to be exploited in real-time communication systems due to its features such as its high throughput and wide availability, hence being a cost-effective solution. Many real-time switched Ethernet protocols have been developed, preserving the profits of traditional Ethernet technology, to overcome the limitations imposed by using commercially available (COTS) switches. 5. 5. Biofiltration technologies for stormwater quality treatment

    Author : Godecke-Tobias Blecken; Jean-Luc Bertrand-Krajewski; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Abstract : Due to high runoff volumes and peak flows, and significant contamination with (inter alia) sediment, metals, nutrients, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and salt, urban stormwater is a major cause of degradation of urban water ways. Since current urban drainage systems, which heavily rely on piped sewer networks, may not be sustainable, attempts are being made to develop and refine sustainable urban drainage solutions, notably in Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) and Low Impact Development (LID) concepts.
