  1. 1. The Plasma Contact System : New Functional Insights from a Hemostatic and Thrombotic Perspective

    Author : Jennie Bäck; Bo Nilsson; Kristina Nilsson Ekdahl; Ulla Hedner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Contact activation; factor XII; platelets; coagulation; antithrombin; C1 inhibitor; hemostasis; biomarkers; vascular disease.; Klinisk immunologi; Clinical Immunology;

    Abstract : The physiological role of the plasma contact system still remains a partial enigma. The aim of the presented work was to expand our understanding of the plasma contact system, focusing on its physiological activation and function, principally from a hemostatic perspective. It also explored contact system activation under pathological conditions. READ MORE

  2. 2. Forecasting of Icing Related Wind Energy Production Losses : Probabilistic and Machine Learning Approaches

    Author : Jennie Molinder; Anna Sjöblom; Heiner Körnich; Hans Bergström; Erik Nilsson; Sue Ellen Haupt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Wind energy; Icing on wind turbines; Machine learning; Probabilistic forecasting; Meteorologi; Meteorology;

    Abstract : Icing on wind turbine blades causes significant production losses for wind energy in cold climate. Next-day forecasts of these production losses are crucial for the power balance in the electrical grid and for the trading process, but they are uncertain due to lack of understanding of, and simplifications, in the modelling chain. 3. 3. Urbanization as Socionatures' Reproduction: from Territories of Extraction

    Author : Berta Flaquer; Kristina L. Nilsson; Jennie Sjöholm; Andrea Luciani; Peter Sköld; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Arkitektur; Architecture;

    Abstract : Through an engagement with the strand of critical urban theory, this dissertation brings the reworkings of Henri Lefebvre’s notion of ‘planetary urbanisation’ into a new synthesis with further inputs from urban political ecology and feminism—towards developing an ecofeminist lens to urbanization. Guided by the hypothesis “urbanization has been historically sustained through the patriarchal domination of women and nature’s reproduction,” the thesis seeks to critically explore how urbanization processes have historically and multiscalarly recurrently transformed the spatial configurations of reproduction from territories of extraction. 4. 4. Designing Tools for Joint Inquiry : Making and thinking together

    Author : Laura Gottlieb; Yvonne Eriksson; Jennie Schaeffer; Anna-Lena Carlsson; Åsa Wikberg-Nilsson; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Innovation and Design; innovation och design;

    Abstract : Positioned within the research program and subject area of Innovation and Design, this research focuses on the relationship between tools and joint inquiry. Joint inquiry – the collaborative exploration and definition of problems and possible solutions – plays an important part in Participatory Design processes. READ MORE
