  1. 1. Self-Assembly in Lipid-Protein Systems : Lung Surfactant, Stratum Corneum and Model Membranes

    Author : Jenny Andersson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lipid self-assembly; lung surfactant; stratum corneum; dehydrin; cholesterol; osmolytes; urea; TMAO; ssNMR; cSAXS;

    Abstract : This thesis explores lipid self-assembly and aims to give a broad picture of self-assembly structures in simple and complex lipid-protein systems. The systems studied are lung surfactant, stratum corneum and simple model membranes. The lung surfactant mixture lines the alveolus in our lungs and stabilises the air- tissue interface. READ MORE

    Abstract : The Mylonite zone (MZ) is a prominent late-Sveconorwegian lithological terrane boundary in the SW Baltic Shield along which large-scale crustal block movements took place during the Sveconorwegian orogeny. The southern section of the MZ also defines a conspicuous metamorphic break separating upper amphibolite and high-pressure granulite facies rocks in the parautochthonous Eastern Segment (ES), from middle amphibolite facies rocks in the overlying Western Segment (WS). 5. 5. Dissecting the photosystem II light-harvesting antenna

    Author : Jenny Andersson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plant physiology; antisense; Arabidopsis thaliana; chlorophyll; carotenoid; feedback de-excitation; fitness; LHC; NPQ; photosynthesis; state transitions; xanthophyll; Växtfysiologi; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi; Physiological Botany; fysiologisk botanik;

    Abstract : In photosynthesis, sunlight is converted into chemical energy that is stored mainly as carbohydrates and supplies basically all life on Earth with energy.In order to efficiently absorb the light energy, plants have developed the outer light harvesting antenna, which is composed of ten different protein subunits (LHC) that bind chlorophyll a and b as well as different carotenoids.
