    Abstract : In this thesis lectin panels on gold wafers were utilized to investigate sera from different mammals and meat juices from various species of animals. Lectins, which are a group of diverse, natural proteins recognize and bind to different carbohydrate structures present on the sera proteins and on the proteins in the different meat juices.     Abstract : Pheochromocytomas and paragangliomas are neuroendocrine tumors that arise from neural crest-derived cells of the adrenal medulla and the extra-adrenal paraganglia. They cause hypertension due to an abnormally high production of catecholamines (mainly adrenaline and noradrenaline), with symptoms including recurrent episodes of headache, palpitations and sweating, and an increased risk of cardiovascular disease.
