  1. 1. Hfq- and sRNA-mediated regulation in Neisseria meningitidis

    Author : Jens Karlsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Neisseria meningitidis, also known as the meningococcus, is a human-specific pathogen that commonly colonises the nasopharynx without causing disease. For reasons unknown, N. meningitidis can traverse the nasopharyngeal epithelium and enter the bloodstream, causing invasive meningococcal disease manifesting in septicaemia and/or meningitis. 2. 2. Temporal Adverbs in Modern Standard Chinese : A Decompositional Inquiry

    Author : Jens Karlsson; Kinesiska; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; decompositionality; semantics; temporality; Chinese; word class theory; temporal adverbs;

    Abstract : Temporal adverbs (时间副词 shíjiān fùcí) in Modern Standard Chinese (MSC) are a group of words assuming the role of adverbial modifier (状语 zhuàngyǔ), expressing a temporal notion. Both characteristics are problematic; adverbs (副词 fùcí) are defined as a word class with the sole function of assuming the role of adverbial modifier, but several words traditionally categorized as temporal adverbs have syntactic functions outside this scope. 3. 3. Laser welding of boron steels for light-weight vehicle applications

    Author : Karl Fahlström; Lars-Erik Svensson; Leif Karlsson; Jens Klaestrup Kristensen; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Laser welding; boron steel; high strength steels; strength reduction; brittle behavior; crack susceptibility; distortions; light-weight; quality; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik;

    Abstract : Laser beam welding has gained a significant interest during the last two decades. The suitability of the process for high volume production has the possibility to give a strong advantage compared to several other welding methods. However, it is important to have the process in full control since various quality issues may otherwise occur. READ MORE

  4. 4. Quantitative methods for tumor imaging with dynamic PET

    Author : Ida Häggström; Anne Larsson; Mikael Karlsson; Lennart Johansson; Jens Sörensen; Magnus Dahlbom; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dynamic positron emission tomography; PET; tumor imaging; compartment modeling; Monte Carlo; radiofysik; radiation physics;

    Abstract : There is always a need and drive to improve modern cancer care. Dynamic positron emission tomography (PET) offers the advantage of in vivo functional imaging, combined with the ability to follow the physiological processes over time. READ MORE

  5. 5. Tool steel for tool holder applications : microstructure and mechanical properties

    Author : Anna Medvedeva; Jens Bergström; Birger Karlsson; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tool steel; tool holder; microstructure; mechanical properties; machinability; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Large improvements in cutting tool design and technology, including the application of advanced surface engineering treatments on the cemented carbide insert, have been achieved in the last decades to enhance tool performance. However, the problem of improving the tool body material is not adequately studied. READ MORE
