  1. 1. Dust from mining area and proposal of dust emission factors

    Author : Qi Jia; John McManus; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Soil Mechanics; Geoteknik;

    Abstract : Mining generates great deal of particulate matter, especially for surface mining. The principle of dust generation is based on the theory of soil wind erosion. This thesis theoretically and experimentally dealt with mining dust. In chapter 1 the development of study on soil erosion by wind and mining dust were introduced. READ MORE

  2. 2. Estimation of industrial dust using exposure-profiling method

    Author : Qi Jia; John McManus; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Soil Mechanics; Geoteknik;

    Abstract : Dust is a primary cause for air quality deterioration, as well as a potential health hazard. Mining and construction sites, in particular, are the most profound in dust generation. The possible source activities are drilling, loading, transporting, dumping, crushing, stockpiles, waste rock and unprotected open surfaces, etc. READ MORE

  3. 3. Studies of Hydrogenations and Isomerizations of Olefins and Alkylations of Amines Using Iridium Catalysts

    Author : Jia-Qi Li; Pher Andersson; Jianliang Xiao; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Iridium; Asymmetric; Hydrogenation; Isomerization; Alkylation; Organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis describes three types of reactions that were carried out using iridium catalysts.The first type is the iridium-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of olefins. In paper I, the preparation of a new type of bicyclic thiazole-phosphine based iridium complex was described. READ MORE

  4. 4. Excess pore water pressure generation in crushed and fine granular materials under cyclic traffic loads

    Author : Tan Manh Do; Jan Laue; Hans Mattsson; Qi Jia; Ivo Herle; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Geoteknik; Soil Mechanics;

    Abstract : Excess pore water pressure can develop in subgrades of railway and pavement substructures due to cyclic loading from heavy traffic, leading to the migration of fine particles into upper layers. This migration can clog pores and diminish the drainage capacity of upper layers,negatively impacting the long-term performance of sub-structures and service life, ultimately risking failure. 5. 5. Timber Pile-Supported Embankments : Arching and Reinforcement

    Author : Per Gunnvard; Jan Laue; Hans Mattsson; Qi Jia; Luc Thorel; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; timber piles; piled embankment; geosynthetic reinforcement; geosynthetic-reinforced pile-supported embankment; arching; finite element method; full-scale test; Geoteknik; Soil Mechanics;

    Abstract : Reduced climate impact is a worldwide strive today. The foundation engineering industry is continuously searching for more sustainable solutions to reduce resource usage and pollutions directly or indirectly. One such solution is timber piling, as an alternative to the commonly used concrete and steel piles. READ MORE
