  1. 6. Modeling Solute Transport in Fractured Rocks-Role of Heterogeneity, Stagnant Water Zone and Decay Chain

    Author : Batoul Mahmoudzadeh; Longcheng Liu; Joaquin Martinez; Lanru Jing; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Solute transport model; Fractured rock; Stagnant water zone; Rock matrix diffusion; Radionuclide decay chain; Geological layers; Laplace transform; Simulation;

    Abstract : A model is developed to describe solute transport and retention in fractured rocks. It accounts for the fact that solutes not only can diffuse directly from the flowing channel into the adjacent rock matrix composed of different geological layers but can also at first diffuse into the stagnant water zone occupied in part of the fracture and then from there into the rock matrix adjacent to it. 2. 7. Solute transport in fractured rocks : Analysis of analytical solutions and determination of transport parameters

    Author : Shuo Meng; Longcheng Liu; Ivars Neretnieks; Lanru Jing; Klaus-Peter Kröhn; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fractured rock; Radionuclide transport; Analytical solution; Dispersion mechanisms; Electromigration.; Sprickigt berg; Radionukidtransport; analytisk lösning; Dispersionsmekanismer; Elektromigration.; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : In order to facilitate the assessment of the safety and function of deep geological repositories for radioactive waste, several models have been developed to describe water flow and transport of solutes in fractured crystalline rock. The rock around the repository is described and modelled as a network of water-bearing fractures. READ MORE

  3. 8. Aniridia-related keratopathy : structural changes, signaling pathways and clinical aspects

    Author : André Vicente; Fatima Pedrosa Domellöf; Berit Byström; Luis Abegão Pinto; Jing-Xia Liu; Anders Ivarsen; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; aniridia; aniridia-related keratopathy; PAX6; keratoplasty; fetal cornea; Notch1; Wnt; sonic hedgehog; mTOR; keratocyte; oftalmiatrik; ophthalmology;

    Abstract : Aniridia is a congenital autosomal dominant, bilateral, panocular condition, caused by haploinsufficiency of the Pax6 transcription factor. Aniridia-related keratopathy (ARK) significantly affects vision and quality of life in these patients. READ MORE

  4. 9. Grinding effects on surface integrity, flexural strength and contact damage resistance of coated hardmetals

    Author : Jing Yang; Magnus Odén; Luis Llanes; Andrew Gant; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The tribological and mechanical behavior of coated tools depends not only on intrinsic properties of the deposited film but also on substrate surface and subsurface properties – such as topography and residual stress state – as well as on interface adhesion strength. It is particularly true in the case of coated tools based on WC-Co cemented carbides (backbone materials of the tool manufacturing industry, and simply referred to as hardmetals in practice) as substrates. 5. 10. Surface-Controlled Chemical Vapor Deposition of Silicon Carbide

    Author : Jing-Jia Huang; Henrik Pedersen; Urban Forsberg; Örjan Danielsson; Ulf Jansson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Polycrystalline cubic silicon carbide, 3C-SiC, has long been investigated in the field of hard coating materials. The typical synthesis method for 3C-SiC coatings is thermal chemical vapor deposition (CVD) using either multicomponent precursors, e.g. methyltrichlorosilane, or a combination of single component precursors, e.
